Chalk Ah Lot wedding card

There's a new challenge at Chalk Ah Lot. A place to play with chalks and show it off for the chance to win a prize from our sponsor Stamp N Plus.

The new challenge is
Wedding with chalk

For my cards today I chose to work with THIS stamp also by Stamp N Plus and I colored it in using powdered chalk and paint mixed together. I did this image over a period of time. As I would make a new color of the mixture together, I would pull out this stamped image and add that color. The sentiment stamp is also by Stamp N Plus but isn't on the website. you can order the sheet of sentiments by calling Luann at 715-271-1873.

The embossing folder is by Sizzix with cardstock by Recollections and Bazzill. The border punch is by EK Success and the pearls are by Want 2 Scrap. The sentiment and image are stamped with Hero Arts black ink.

Stamp N Plus Best Wishes

I made this card for the Stamp N Plus blog. The flowers in a barrel and sentiment stamp are by Stamp N Plus. You can find the flowers HERE and the sentiment HERE.

I colored in the image with distress markers by Ranger on watercolor paper by Strathmore. I blended colors together by scribbling the ink on a craft sheet and then taking the color up with a water pen to apply it to the paper. The flowers on my card are a combination of the colors Spun Sugar, Dried Marigold and Spiced Marmalade. The image is stamped in Hero Arts black ink and the sentiment in Stampin Up brown ink. The Hero Arts ink is perfect for these water based markers.

The patterned paper is by Prima and cardstock by Recollections and Bazzill. I dry embossed the background paper (EF by Darice) and then used the ink from a distress marker (Dried Marigold) to ink the edges with a blending tool.

The image is on a die cut by Spellbinders and the larger scallop oval is from Cricut's Storybook cartridge. I dry embossed the later die cut with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Let's Party 30th birthday

My cousin is turning 30 next week. I wanted to make her a fun summery kind of card that didn't dwell on her age but still acknowledged it. To do this I stamped tiny little numbers in my banner and in retrospect I should have done so in a lighter pink ink but it's done now. The biggest challenge I have now is getting it in the mail before her birthday actually comes and then goes. I was making July cards this past week and holy cow do we have a large amount of birthdays and anniversaries this month. Hopefully since I've made a list and set cards aside I can stay on top of it. I've often thought of mailing all my cards out at the beginning of the month but that kind of sucks for people that have a birthday on well idk the 29th of the month. Anyway....

Onto my card, I used patterned paper by Echo Park for the background and then My Mind's Eye for the pants and Making Memories (old 8.5x11) for the shirt. The cardstock is by Recollections and Bazzill but the Copic cardstock is by Cryogen. I colored in this fun Kenny K image using the Copc markers and then paper piecing her outfit. The circular sentiment is by Elle's Studio and the die cut the image is on is by Spellbinders. The banner originally started as a Hero Arts stamp  but the pennants were to big for my little 4x5.5 sized card so I cut them down and inked the white cardstock with Stampin Up Pink Passion ink. Then I stamped the numbers and also a very small flower on the ends-a little to light to see them though. The floss is from my stash and I did sew the line across the banner on and then took the entire front panel and adhered it to a Recollections card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Guest Designer at My Stamp Box

Exciting news to share today. I was asked to be guest designer at My Stamp Box. Check out all their wonderful stamp sets.

I used THIS stamp set.

I made a banner for my sister's wedding shower. Her colors are purple and yellow and so I made the pennants alternating colors. For each pennant I added a flower or two in the different shades of yellow and purple.

For this pennant I heat embossed the flower stamped image on vellum and cut it out. To give it a yellow appearance I colored the back with a Copic marker. Same thing for the leaf next to it.

I used the same embossing technique on the S pennant but with some shading in purple. You can get such a different look using your Copics.

For my next project I learned a technique from Jennifer McGuire that worked perfect with this stamp set. Check out the link for a video tutorial she made on this technique.

I stamped the back of the large flower stamp in white craft ink, heat set it; stamped the back of the smaller flower on top of the white in aqua; then stamped the front (normal way of the image) of the smaller stamp with white ink on top of  the aqua. That was a mouth full.
I masked the flower off and did the same thing with the leaves. It's a fun look.

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to visit My Stamp Box to view my bio and come back next Tuesday, July 2 (what? it's July next week) to see my other projects using the same stamp set. You will like them.

Other Supplies:
Banner-patterned paper by DCWV, Best Creations and Recollections; cardstock by Recollections and DCWV; rosette die cut by Tim Holtz; pennants, circle and letter dies cut out using my Cricut; ink by Colorbox, Stampin Up, Staz-On, Versa Mark; embossing powder by Stamp N Plus; markers by Copic; ribbon is vintage.
Card-patterned paper by Recollections; cardstock by Oriental Trading Co and Recollections; ink by Stampin Up and Hero Arts; masking paper by Inkadinkado; sentiment sticker by K and Co; twine by We R Memory Keepers; sticker embellishment by Studio G.

Manly Monday

Welcome to Manly Monday where the guys cards are in the spotlight. You won't find flowers in this post.  Be sure to stop by these ladies blogs and leave them some love. Tell them you saw their card on Manly Monday:) Then scroll down to the bottom for my card too.

Jan R from Huh. So this is a blog (Love that blog name)

There are three male cards on this one post

And THIS one from Lucy too

Wow! Weren't those some awesome masculine cards? I don't know if you noticed a small theme but I have been crazy wild for THIS stamp set that I bought at Oriental Trading Co. The price is $2.19 for a full 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of clear stamps that includes words, gears and well, robots. Remember last week's card-HERE-I used the same stamp set and got a totally different look.

I stamped the robot onto Strathmore watercolor paper with Hero Arts black ink. I used distress markers from Ranger to color in the image and their Glossy Accents on the gauges. The die cut the image is on is by Spellbinders. The background patterned paper is by We R Memory Keepers. I dry embossed a strip of the Strathmore cardstock and inked it lightly with Ranger Distress ink Pumice Stone. The embossing folder is by Darice. The rest of my supplies; black cardstock is by Recollections, circle punch by Stampin Up/EK Success, sentiment stamp by Stamp N Plus and craft ink by Stampin Up.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Chalk Ah Lot Christmas Card in June

Today starts week two for the anything goes with chalk challenge at Chalk Ah Lot. I decided to make a Christmas in June card for the challenge. I love to make Christmas cards and our challenges' sponsor, Stamp N Plus, carries 20+ pages of Christmas stamps. Check out the selection of Christmas stamps available online HERE. The sentiment stamp can be found HERE and the cardinal stamp can be ordered by calling Luann at 715-271-1783. Now is the time to start thinking about making Christmas cards. Life gets so busy around November and December that the joy of making handmade cards to send out can seem like a chore. Start now and enjoy the process.
**If you need some inspiration for making Christmas cards, visit my DT blog at Christmas Cards all Year Round for monthly challenges with prizes awarded each month. This month the challenge is Vintage Christmas.

On with my card....I painted the image in using powdered chalk and paint by Stamp N Plus. This picture shows the beautiful look you can achieve by combining the two together. To see all the powdered chalk colors available please go HERE.

After I painted in the image I die cut it out with a Spellbinders die where I embossed the edges as well. It's hard to tell on this photo but the embossed edge really adds to the die cut. The sentiment was heat embossed using Versa Mark ink and Stamp N Plus embossing power. The eyelets are by Doodlebug Designs which I set on the card using my Crop-O-Dile by We R Memory Keepers. The patterned paper I used on this card are all scraps from my stash. I think the green may be My Mind's Eye (really old) but the others I'm unsure of. The cardstock I used for the image is by Recollections and the ink by Hero Arts.

SNP Best Wishes

My card today is for the blog Stamp N Plus. For my card today I used a flower basket stamp by Stamp N Plus which you can find HERE. I colored it in with distress markers using a water pen to blend the color on watercolor paper by Strathmore. I used the back of the paper so there wasn't as much texture making it easier for my ink to create a stamped impression. Sometimes the textured side makes for an incomplete stamped image but I love the way it blends the water and distress marker colors. The backside works well to blend the colors and water, just in a different fashion then the textured side-but I sort of liked it. The die cut the image is on is by Spellbinders.

The wood grain patterned paper is by My Mind's Eye, the peach striped paper is by Prima with a Martha Stewart border punch and the green cardstock is by Bazzill. The sentiment sticker is by SRM Stickers and the twin and eyelet are from my stash.

The butterfly is a wood veneer by Recollectins. It adds dimension to the card but is still flat enough to fit through the mail at normal postage cost. I painted the wood with Crackle paint by Ranger. The crackle effect gives a fun texture to an otherwise plain embellishment. To adher the butterfly to the card I used Tombow liquid glue.

Thanks so much for looking.

Celebrate in Style

In keeping with the yellow theme (sort of) this week, I have a birthday card today. The background cardstock is stamped with various inks and stamps by Close to my Heart and I think Fiskars. I have to fess up, I'm totally not sure about the stamps and ink because I made this background probably 2 or 3 years ago. At the time, I didn't like it so I put it in my "To be Continued" box and then recently as I was thumbing through the box of  unfinished (or unliked) cards I came across it. I thought to myself I have the perfect color flowers and what nots to go with this card and Wah-La the card has been given a new life. Glad I got that off my chest - Lol.

The darker yellow flower is from the online store Stamping Scrapping (Another Cindy from the Grand Rapids, MI area- You may know her because she released a line of Spellbinders dies. Her last name starts with an E. See the link and visit her store. She has a clearance section and deals of the week. I'm totally going shopping when I finish this post.)
*Wow I'm really babbling today*

The lighter colored flower is by Prima and the center is by Forever in Time. Side note-I saw these centers made into earrings at the Farmers Market today. Good idea.

The label die cut is by Spellbinders with DCWV patterned paper and sentiment stamp by Hero Arts (Love them!) with ink by Close to my Heart. The different cardstocks on my card are by Recollections and the brads and ribbon are from my stash.

Thanks for putting up with me today and come back

*Tomorrow (Saturday) for my Stamp N Plus card-
It's a good one (well I like it).

*Then Sunday is a Chalk Ah Lot card for the
anything goes using chalk challenge

*and then Monday brings a new Manly Monday post.
You don't want to miss it.
Fabulous masculine card inspiration for those guys in our lives.

Love card

My card today is a wedding shower card that I made for my sister. Her wedding colors are purple with yellow. I love the way this card turned out. I used an Autunm Leaves stamp that I heat embossed with white embossing powder by Stamp N Plus. The ink by Versa Mark. I colored it in using Distress Markers and a water pen to get that watercolor look. The paper I use for watercoloring is Strathmore, which you can buy at HL or Michael's. The oval shapes were cut out using Creative Memories cutting system and the cardstock for the ovals is by Bazzill and Recollections. The ribbon is from my stash, flower by Creative Memories (old) and the glitter center is by Recollections.

Love birds

I have yet another wedding type card but now that I look at it it could go as an anniversary card. The image is by Hope Jacare and it was printed out on watercolor paper by Starthmore. Then I used distress markers and a water pen to color it in. The side border die is by Spellbinders, yellow patterned paper by Colorbok, love stamp by Stamper Anonymous, pearls by Want 2 Scrap, ink by Tsukineko and rhinestones and sequins from my stash. Thanks for looking.

Together Forever Wedding card

For today's wedding card I used polka dot paper by Bazzill and word paper by Prima. The die cuts are all by Spellbinders. I have a basket that I keep my already cut out die cuts in that I went to over to and pulled out this particular shape finding these three ready to go on a card. I love the light blue on the card  for an extra color. The metal embellishment is by Making Memories and I have Recollections adhesive lace on top of red ribbon to go through it.

I put this on a black cardstock card and therefore had to make the inside presentable. The corner stamp is by Fiskars and the sentiment is by American Crafts in Hero Arts black ink.

Thanks for looking.

Happy Birthday

For my card today I cut out this label die and circle from my Cricut. Then I stamped and heat embossed a Hero Arts background stamp on to it. I used Squeezed Lemon Distress ink by Ranger to change the cardstock from white to yellow. I finished it up with a few spritz of white and Perfect Pearls mixed together. I love the yellow especially with the black and grey.
The patterned paper is by MME, cardstock by Recollections, sentiment stamp by PTI, inks Versa Mark and Hero Arts, embossing powder by Stampendous, brad by The Paper Studio and ribbon from my stash.

Denise is the winner of my challenge.
Any idea what my second masculine set by Stampin Up is? Take a look at my Guy cards board and then leave a comment back here for a chance at a prize. If I have to go to the post office I might as well send out two prizes. Denise you are not eligible to play for the second prize.

For my card today I made this one for my husband for Father's day. He's a car kind of guy so he appreciates these gear type cards.

*ENABLER ALERT* The gear stamps are by Oriental Trading Co-You have to check this out because the sheet of acrylic stamps is size 81/2x11 and it's $2.19. HERE is the link. You will be seeing some robot cards coming up this summer.

Back to my card, I painted the gears in with powdered chalk and paint by Stamp N Plus. Check them out HERE. I stamped the gears with Hero Arts ink on Strathmore's watercolor paper, which you can find at HL or Michael's. The sentiment stamp by Hero Arts has been heat embossed in white on vellum-ink by Versa Mark, embossing powder by Stamp N Plus and vellum by The Paper Studio. But when I placed the sentiment over the word gears it was washed out. So I took a C3 Copic marker and colored the back of the vellum and it stood out beautifully.

That's it for this week's Manly Monday post. I hope you find inspiration to make cards for the men in your life.

Dog paws

New Chalk Ah Lot challenge up is Anything goes with chalk

For my card today I used this dog stamp that can be found HERE. There are a bunch of these types dog stamps for you to purchase like Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's and others. Check them out.

I colored him in with powdered chalk and acrylic paint all by Stamp N Plus. Then I cut him out using my Spellbinders dies with a matte behind him of the next size up. I love that this particular die comes in small and large so the matte around it isn't as wide. Before I took the paper out of the die I inked the inside with Ranger's Distress ink Antique Linen. The pink paper is by Echo Park and I dry embossed it using an embossing folder by Darice. The other patterned paper is by My Mind's Eye. The ribbon is by Heidi Swapp and the stickers are by Cloud 9.

Thanks so much for stopping by and looking.

Christmas Cards all year Round

There's still two more weeks to join us at Christmas Cards all year Round June challenge. The theme this month is vintage Christmas.

My card came together quite easily with the coordinating products from Bo Bunny. I did ink the patterned papers with Ranger Distress ink. The rub on sentiment is on a Spellbinders die with Creative Memories gold paper. The buttons are from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look.

"Happy Day"

My card is also being featured on the Stamp N Plus blog. The iris folding grad cap stamp can be found HERE. I can't believe how easy it is to do iris folding and who knew I would like to do it. I used Hero Arts black ink for the cap and patterned paper by Recollections for the iris folding and Karen Foster as the background. The sentiment is a SRM Sticker.

The flourish is a piece of grungeboard by Tim Holtz that I painted with Adirondack Metallics acrylic paint which is made by Ranger Industries. While the paint was still wet I sprinkled Stamp N Plus white glitter all over it. After it dried I sprayed the flourish with Krylon Fixatif in desperate hopes that the glitter would stick to the flourish and not everything else in my studio. I must say this picture is great at catching the sunlight. Look at that sparkle!

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and if you have any questions, comments or concerns please leave me a comment below. I love reading them all-the good, the bad and the ugly:)
