Manly Monday Tim Holtz Man with an Umbrella Card

This card is similar to an orange Manly Monday I posted recently. I loved the way it looked in blue and had to share it with you. I used alcohol inks on glossy paper, stamped the man in Memento black ink, and then embossed it on my Cuttlebug.
Thanks for looking.

Valentine's Day Card for Chalk-Ah-Lot Challenge #2

Chalk a Lot is no longer in business.

Here is an explanation of the chalks:
There are 4 types of chalks; powder, dust, metallic and florescent. All powder and dust colors contain an additive which helps to bind the chalk to paper. A fixative is not required when using the powder and dust colors.

The metallic and fluorescent colors do not contain the same additive as the powder and dust; therefore they do require a fixative be applied either over or under the metallic and florescent colors.

Powder: These colors contain an additive which allows different shades to be created. The degree of change depends on the amount of chalk and pressure applied. Eight of the powder colors containan additive which creates special effects, including exciting streaks of color throughout your design.

Dust: These are very subtle colors. The effect you achieve is most like the pallet chalks but can be applied with much more ease. Their texture allow for a versatility that pallet chalks do not.

Fluorescent: These colors are very bright brilliant colors.

Metallic: These colors provide a rich dazzle and shine. Stardust, our most popular metallic adds a special shimmer to any design. It can be added to any area or used to cover your whole design and give luster to the entire piece of art.

Stardust can also be used to create many metallic colors. By mixing 1 part Stardust with 2 parts of any powder, dust or florescent color, you can create a rainbow of metallic colors. Stardust can also enhance any of your matte pigment inks by lightly applying Stardust over the stamped image with a cotton ball while the ink is still wet. This will change any of your matte color pigment ink pads to a rich metallic color.

Here is the card I made:

Using a cosmetic wedge, I put chalk on the background cardstock to turn the pink slightly red. The heart is a Spellbinders die. Patterned paper is by DCWV and the sentiment I cut out with my Cricut. I heat embossed the heart stamp using Versa Mark ink and Stampendous embossing powder. Red cardstock by Stampin Up. Thanks for looking.

Digital Stamp Fairy card for Robyn's Fetish Challenge #92

This week's challenge at Robyn's Fetish challenge is MAKE IT SPARKLE. We are sponsored and given images by Gingerloft Digi Stamps. I used my powdered chalks to color in the image and then used Stickles for the sparkly part. I wish it would photograph better because the chalk and paint I used has a beautiful shimmer to it. You can find the chalks HERE.

The patterned paper is by MME and the cardstock by DCWV. The stamp is by Fiskars and the ink by Staz-on. Thanks for looking.

Birthday blues

I made this card to sell at the local scrapbook store. I had to fiddle with it a lot to get it out the door. I really love border punched right now but am slightly bored with the ones I have. Oh well, I'll just keep on using what I have. Like this Martha Stewart punch is an oldie but a goodie in my opinion.
The flower stamp by Hero Arts on the kraft paper is heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
It's different then what I normally create but I still like it.

Supplies:
PP by Making Memories
CS-Bazzill and Chatterbox
Ink by Memento
Die cut by Spellbinders
Embossing folder by Provo Craft

Welcome to the first week of the Chalk-Ah-Lot Cafe challenge. This challenge blog is the first of it's kind to require you to use chalk on your project/creation.

The chalk that we get to play with is so much fun and versatile. It's powder chalk by Stamp N Plus Scrap N It comes in a variety of colors that you can purchase in a set or individually. Here is a picture of the chalks:

It's a fun powder that you can use on its own or add it to other mediums such as paint, glue, Stickles, water, Gesso and much more. There are so many techniques that one could use with these chalks. The possibilities are endless.

So for our first challenge, which will run for 2 weeks the theme is ANYTHING GOES.

For my card, I used the color Gem combined with paint and applied it directly onto the stamp using a paintbrush and then stamped it onto my paper. The stamps (flourish and sentiment) can be purchased at The Stamp Affair

Thanks for looking.

January 2012 Calendar Layout

After so much that goes into making the calendars for my family, it has paid off. I am being published at Scrapbook dot com
My layout is the last one on the page. I'd love for you to check it out.
For today I have the first of 3 different January calendar pages to show you. I think the best part of this layout is I used all the scraps found within my scrap room.
I still need to consider a resolution or goal if I'm going to for this year. My husband's goal is to get me out of this office make me set up shop downstairs. I'm reluctant to go to the basement. Then he will see how much stuff I really do have. Can't have that now, can we?

Thanks for looking.

Turkey Thankful card for Robyn's Fetish Challenge

I Did it Creations has a new name and that is The Robyn's Fetish Challenge. The same great site and challenges just a new name, a new look, and a few other things.

This week's challenge #88 is Anything goes and we are sponsored by Robyn's Fetish. I myself am still in denial that it could possibly be January 1st  and still living in fall colors. I chose to use Tom the turkey for my card this week. I'm just getting a jump start on Thanksgiving cards for 2012. Nothing like being prepared.

I colored him in with my Copic markers. The sentiment is a stamp by Colobok, I used distressing ink by Ranger and patterned paper and cardstock by Recollections.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
