Nautical Birthday and new technique

I have second post for today that I wanted to get out there for a DT call. You can call it a Pre-Manly Monday post because tomorrow there is going to be a lot of great stuff for your masculine card inspiration.

But for tonight I have a nautical card using a painter's tape technique by Kay Kalthoff. Check out the Youtube video for an explanation. I did it a little different with my blues showcasing the different "colors" of the sea/water but really it's the lack of light against the bottom of the body of water that makes the deeper water darker. Anyway, check it out and leave me a link if you do the technique.

The sentiment stamp is part of the by Birthday Words stamp set by Gina Marie Stamps. You can find all her stamp sets and great deals at WholeSaleCraftingSupplies.com.The boat stamp is by Stampin Up stamped in black Hero Arts ink on Tim Holtz watercolor paper. I colored the image in with distress markers by Ranger Industries as well as the jute in a bow.

The frame around the ship is a Spellbinders die cut that I cut apart and made it shorter in height  to better fit my image. I trimmed up the edges with some scissors and placed an epoxy sticker over the seams. The border die cut at the bottom is cut out using my Cricut using the Wall Decor and More cartridge. I cut them out from white cardstock and then inked them with Pumice Stone distress ink. They're kind of cool looking.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back on Monday for Manly Monday once at 6 AM and part two at 6 PM {EST}.

  1. Thanks for checking out the STAMPlorations blog, Cindy. I had to delete your entry to the STAMPlorations Anything Goes Challenge because only projects that use STAMPlorations stamps may be entered there (we have the rules listed on the page). However, we have 3 other challenges (a monthly challenge and 2 sketch challenges) on the blog where anyone can submit projects using whatever stamps they have in their stash. Feel free to submit your card to those challenges if they fit the monthly theme and/or the sketch. Thanks!
