Stamp N Plus Blog hop

Welcome to the August Stamp N Plus stamp of the month blog hop. If you are here from Jackie's blog you are on the right path. If you are just joining in please go to the Stamp N Plus blog to get started.

For this month's Stamp N Plus blog hop we were given two Sarah's Scribbles stamps to play with.

I used stardust powdered chalk and distressing ink to color in my images. You can see the tutorial on it HERE.

If you get a chance, you should stop by the sister blog Chalk-Ah-Lot cafe and check out one more project using one of these stamps and the new tutorial posted on Wednesday.

Stamp N Plus sunflower card

Our sunflowers are so pretty right about now. We start them from seeds and water them every, ok most, days. It is such a joy to watch something so small grow to be so big.
So with that I have this sunflower card to share today. I painted the image in using paint and powdered chalk from Stamp N Plus.
I used a bunch of left over pieces of paper to make this card. I love to use up my scraps.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just a note

I just adore this card and I think it's because I used old supplies. It makes me feel good to discover and use up what I already have. The music note is an old die cut by Creative Memories that I found it in my stash and thought how perfect it would be with this sentiment stamp by Stamp N Plus

The background stamp is by Hero Arts and I used Stampin Up ink. The shimmery cardstock is by Creative Memories, the label die cuts are by Spellbinders and the swirl sticker is by Me and My Big Ideas.

Best Wishes card

This best wishes card was made using a technique from Jennifer McGuire. Love that lady and all her stamping ideas. I stamped and heat embossed in silver a word background stamp. After that I heat embossed with white embossing powder a floral background stamp. Then I used a Spellbinders die cut to cut out a window. Using my Cricut I cut out two hearts one for the inside of the card and one a bit smaller for the window. Using vellum, I heat embossed the sentiment  and adhered it to the window. The white heart is adhered to the vellum. It looks like it's freestanding. Love that.

Misting Powdered chalk idea

I did an enjoyable and simple thing with metallic chalk this week.
I added it to a spray mister of water and then sprayed it on a watercolor piece of cardstock for the first card and regular cardstock for the others. I used a Mini Mister by Ranger Industries to combine the two. I was generous with the amount of chalk I added to make the color brighter and more vivid. You could always use less for a fainter look. Check out my examples below.
Then after it dried I stamped these shell stamps, using a masking technique over the sprayed chalk area. The spray reminds me of sand.

Here is a close-up of the chalk spray mist. It gives a great sparkle.

Products-Stamps by Stamp N Plus, ink  by Tsukineko and Stampin Up, border punch by Martha Stewart, a masking paper by Inkadinkado, ribbon by Stampin Up, circle punch EK Success, a watercolor paper by Hobby Lobby, cardstock by Bazzill

Here is another example using the chalk spray mist.

Products-Stamps by Stamp N Plus, ink  by Tsukineko and Stampin Up, border punch by EK Success, ribbon by Stampin Up, die cut by Spellbinders, cardstock by Oriental Trading Co, Bazzill and Pioneer

I found that if you hold the mister back so the spray was lightly hitting the paper the more even of a look I got. The closer the mister was to the paper the bigger the drops of chalk would be. See the example below.

Products-Cardstock by Hobby Lobby and Bazzill, die cuts by Cricut and Spellbinders, flowers by Oriental Trading Co, and Bazzill with leaf by Prima
