Manly Monday Dinosaurs

Today my card is for a younger male but still suits the Manly Monday theme. The patterned paper is by Making Memories and the black and cream colored cardstock is by Recollections. The dinosaurs are Stampendous stamps on Strathmore watercolor cardstock with black Hero Arts ink. I painted them in with olive and forest green distress inks and a water pen both by Ranger. I punched them out with an EK Success punch and then punched out the next largest circle in an olive green cardstock. I die cut the tags with a Sizzix die and my Cuttlebug. The brads and stamps are unknown but I believe the black ink is Hero Arts.

AU Football layout

Another layout done for the nephew book. There is a bunch of Cricut cuts on this one so I'll start there. I arranged the stars on the Cricut Craft Room to be evenly spaced out because I was using it as a stencil. I cut the stars background by using the Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge. I did so in multiple colors for future layouts. It took me some time to plan it out and I really liked the look. I used the Creative Memories Total Sports cartridge for the year. The name in the bottom right area had to be blurred out but it was cut out using the Don Juan cartridge.

I noticed on the pictures that everything orange was from AU. I looked up the AU logo and found it was for Auburn University. I liked the look of the logo but was having trouble finding this font in my collection of cartridges.

There was no short supply of problems while trying to find a similar look. I ran into simple things like the opening of the U wasn't wide enough to fit the A inside. I tried manipulating the letter by stretching it in all the right places and was unsuccessful. It looked weird. Then I noted the tops and bottoms of the letters are square not rounded like in the layout below. Another thing going on with this long process was I wanted a shadow to go behind the letters and that wasn't always an available option as shown here. So I ended up using the Lyrical Letters cartridge Jumbo font. I made two of the same size and off centered them behind. It doesn't look exactly like the real logo but I really gave it a Girl Scout try.

Moving on, the football helmet is a chipboard embellishment by Paper Accents that I colored orange Smooch Spritz. I was having trouble getting them unclogged to work properly. I opened the bottle of an orange spray, poured it on the helmet and worked it through with my finger, Worked wonderfully and took much less time then mixing some red and yellow paints together to make an orange acrylic paint.

The orange paper is by C-Gull and I placed it on the this funny angle for something different. The blue starry background was sprayed with a blue Smooch Spritz.

"Happy Friday!

If is not in the store, which I don't think this one is in the store, than you will have to wait until it pops up again.

Deep Red Stamps Friends Card

Today's card was published in April's Scrap and Stamp Arts Magazine. I love today's card so much that I hope you do too.

I stamp the sentiment with bird stamp by Deep Red Stamps with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder by Stamp N Plus. I took some Fantasticks and colored it the areas you see below and love the results. It was at this time that I realized that the rest of the image needed to be inked to be better visualized. So I applied the Pumice Stone distress ink with a ink blending tool to darken the cardstock. It did just that and I was happy with the way the distress ink left a halo effect around the two parts. I think the white space is a beautiful exaggeration of the bird and the flower to the right.

Once the image was dry I matted it onto a piece of Die Cuts with a View purple cardstock. The patterned paper is by Quick Quotes and it also has been matted onto a piece of purple cardstock. The card itself is a little bit bigger with a width of 6 inches by 4.25 inches.

This Deep Red Stamps can be purchased at the Deep Red Stamps online store.

Sketches in Thyme Project Life Feb

This week at Sketches in Thyme Project Life we were to follow this sketch:

I followed the sketch loosely starting a Becky Higgins Project Life card. I stamped the letters on the white part of the card are by Lawn Fawn, the other letters are Stampin Up and the postage stamp is by Rubber Stamps of America (That's an old one). I used different colored Stampin Up inks. The journaling at the bottom is written with a green gel pen by CM. It talks about how these cards were left over from the card drive and to use in 2016.

Then instead of using the tag on a layout or a pocket page I used it on the basket the cards are in. That way come next November I will know what these cards and not have to guess. They say if you tell yourself you will remember such things, you more then likely won't. So here it is on my wire basket.

It goes to show that these sketches can be used for other things then what they were intended for.

Wedding Wishes

For today's card I used a bunch of stamps by Stampin Up and then the bottom left corner is a stamp of the bride and groom which is by Stampendous. I stamped each with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed them with Ranger's platinum embossing powder. Then I punched out each image with an EK Success circle punch along with the next size up to shadow the punch with the image or sentiment.

I love this patterned paper by Prima so much that I didn't want to cover it up so I used two pieces of vellum for my middle section. The closest vellum to the patterned paper is self adhesive and it is by Forever in Time. It has a tan hue to it. Then the vellum on top is by The Paper Studio and because I can never hide the adhesive well I did this; I applied regular adhesive behind the circles but for the edges I used Creative Memories clear photo corners to keep them close to the layer underneath. They are hard to see unless pointed out. I did want to mention that I did adhere the sentiment circle with 3D Zots.

I hope you like the card today.

Manly Monday Chess Edition

I made this card for my nephew who likes to play chess. I die cut the pieces from Cricut freebie cut called Chess Pieces in black and grey Provo Craft cardstock. The background paper is by Me and My Big Ideas and that is covered in the middle with black cardstock by Recollections.

The tags are vellum by The Paper Studio that I cut with a Sizzix die. The die was too long so I cut off the bottom. Then for the rest of the tags to match the first one I placed the new vellum piece onto the die and used the negative of the first cut on top. This gave me the chance to line upthe new and old and enabled me to get the same cut. (*fingers crossed*). This lining up the papers is easier to do when you can see right through the paper. I did take the negative piece out once it was lineup and ran the new vellum through the Cuttlebug. I felt lucky that it worked. After three tags were cut, I ran the vellum tags through the Xyron and placed them onto the black cardstock. I made the black cardstock a little bit shorter then the tags so the checkered patterned wasn't lost.

The brads are by We R Memory Keepers and the sentiment sticker is by Simple Stories.

I hope you like today's card. See you tomorrow,.

Easter Cross Cards

I have a bunch of Easter cards for you today. They were so similar that it seemed silly to break them up. They all use the background paper by K and Co and purple cardstock by Sunborn. They all have a border stamps by TPC Studio, and the digital images were all colored in with powdered chalk mixed with paint by Stamp N Plus.

This first card I used the Creative Memories cutting system to create the oval and shadow on the cross. The egg shape with the sentiment is a Cricut cut from the cartridge Cricut Font and Basic Shapes under the Funky Shapes tag. The sentiment is by Stamp N Plus and it and the border stamp were stamped with Stampin Up Chocolate Chip ink. The cross digital image is by SGT Stamper but I could not find her on the web to give her credit. If you know something I don't about this company or person please let me know.

This next card features a cross by Robyn's Fetish. I went a little different color scheme with this one and I like how it turned out. Sometimes different can be good. The peach paper was in my stash but I do know the green cardstock is by CM. The sentiment is a SRM Sticker on one of those little Spellbinders die cuts that you never know what to do with. One last thing on this one is the border is stamped with purple Staz On ink.

This card the digital image cross is not identified in my files. In fact I can't find it in my files anywhere. I have a horrible digital image system that I've been trying to clean up for years and have been unsuccessful. If you know who made this cross digital stamp please let me know so I can give credit to that person.

This semi circle was cut with CM cutting system and then stamped with the border stamp with SU Lavender Lace ink. The purple cardstock behind the image and that of the egg is by Recollections. The Easter sentiment stamp is by Imaginisce on Oriental Trading Co kraft paper.

Thank you so much for looking. and have a great rest of your day.

Tinker Sassy Card

"Happy Friday!
The image below called  Tinker Sassy will be free for 24 hours on our Sassy Studio Designs Facebook group!! I printed the image out onto X-press It cardstock and colored her in with Copic Markers. I used a lot of Stickles on the wings. It took me three sessions of applying and drying to get the wings full of glitter. The background paper is a aqua and purple but I don't know who the manufacturer is. The purple paper behind the image is by Recollections the aqua cardstock is by Provo Craft. I die cut the sentiment with the Cricut and the Stamping cartridge.

Brrr Layout + Giveaway

Here is another LO from my nephew's scrapbook. I'm slowly moving along with his book. I like to try new techniques when I scrapbook not so the recipient will say anything about them but to keep it more interesting for me. This layout shows different things that only you and I will notice and think is cool.

I hope you don't mind me sharing layouts instead of cards on my blog. It just happens to be what I'm working on. Any cards I'm making right now are for the Senior Center that I volunteer teaching a card class once a month or cards to turn in for publication.

**CORRECTION**
I HAVE TEN ENVELOPES FULL OF STUFF THAT I THINK THAT ANY CARDMAKER OR SCRAPPER COULD USE. THERE ARE STAMPS AND RIBBON IN EACH ENVELOPE. AS I LOOKED AT MY STASH OF GIVEAWAY ITEMS THERE WERE ALL DIFFERENT EVENTS OF STICKERS AND I TRIED SPREAD THEM OUT BEST I COULD. I HAVE THREE LADIES THAT HAVE CLAIMED AN ENVELOPE THAT MEANS I HAVE 7 MORE TO MAIL OUT. EMAIL ME.

**I'm actually looking to send someone that does scrap some supplies. I have a ton of wedding stickers but I also have some stamps, 6x6 pads of paper, there's a small ribbon set, and some beautiful flowers to name a few that I can see from here. I helped clean my mom's house of  her scrap stuff and after going through it I would like to give some away. Plus I've been purging so my give away bin is overflowing with stuff that needs a home. I have those envelopes from the post office that I will fill up an send you. Email me your name and address at grohcm@gmail.com.

Anyway, The background paper is by Creative Memories and I added a bunch of  see thru snow flakes by Maya Road. I also used a flourish type mask by Tim Holtz done with Stamp N Plus chalk and paint mixed together. The photos are matted with Basic Grey patterned paper. The word Brrrr is a Cricut from Winter Wonderland and date by Cricut Craft Room basics.  To finish the layout I added a snowboard stickers by K and Co to the center.

Wood grain Horse Card

Hi Dee Ho. Today's card is a little bit taller than usual for me. It's a 4x6 inch card base with white cardstock by The Paper Studio. This cardstock seems to be a little bit thicker which I think is better for a card base.

The horse stamp is by Inkadinkado and I've stamped it with brown Stampin Up ink. I die cut the image and it's next larger die by Spellbinders. I inked the white cardstock with distress ink, blue on top and brown on the bottom with Ranger's distress ink. The patterned paper of the die cut behind the image is by Best Creations and the pennants are the back side of that same paper. (Are they even in business anymore? Who knows.)

The background paper is a wood grain but I don't know who makes it because I won it from Simon Says Stamp. The lace is from my MIL's stash. The pennants are dies by Sizzix, the circle stamp is by Stampin Up stamped with brown SU ink and punched it out with a Creative Memories circle punch and the sentiment is a die cut by Die-Versions.

Purple Hello card

Today's card is very monochromatic in purple. The background paper is by Recollections as well as the white and purple cardstock in the middle die cuts. The center die cut is a Cricut cut from the Labels cartridge. It was a freebie cartridge on Cricut Craft Room. The star stamp is by Unity Stamp Co and I've stamped it onto Cryogen cardstock with Memento black ink. I colored it in with Copic markers and fussy cut it out. The sentiment is a Lawn Fawn die out of white cardstock sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. I think there may be a few layers of the die to give it dimension. The bakers twine is by Oriental Trading Co.

The background is a Stampin Up stamp. I'm not really sure if I like it but here's what I did: I stamped it with Versa Mark ink onto Ranger Industries watercolor paper. I heat embossed it with soft lilac embossing powder by Stamp N Around. It's very old but it still works so I'm not going to throw it out. Then I mixed Stardust powdered chalk with white paint and coated the background with it. I don't think it made a difference but A for effort.

Manly Monday Chevelle in Red

My Manly Monday card today uses a Chevelle stamp by Deep Red Stamps. You can find it at

or

I stamped it onto Strathmore watercolor paper with black Hero Arts ink. I stamped it on the textured side which didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. Note to self: stamp on the smooth side of watercolor paper. I used Peerless watercolors and distress inks to color the car in. I then couldn't leave it alone and ended up using some Liquid Pearls by Ranger on the front bumper, grill, trim piece above the wheel and head lights. I don't care for the look and probably won't do it again. Lesson learned. If we don't try new things then we can't see how far we can go.

The patterned paper is by Basic Grey. The red cardstock, blue ribbon, and the red cording are all from my stash.

Puppy Love Card

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. I have a new card with a dog stamp by Inque Boutique. I punched it out with a Stampin Up scalloped circle and matted it with a Spellbinders circle and a scalloped circle. The blue patterned paper is by Studio G and the brown velvet paw patterned paper is by The Paper Studio. The brown that everything is matted with is by Coredinations.

John 3:16 Card

I thought I would post a card that uses digital patterned papers and beautiful cross stamp by Doodle Pantry Floral Cross. I printed it out onto white Recollections cardstock and die cut it out with a stitched rectangle die by Lawn Fawn. The sentiment is a stamp by Studio 112 that I stamped with black Hero Arts ink onto a Spellbinders die cut. I added some brads to each side of the die cut in the same color brown that is in the cross.

Skater Sassy Card

"Happy Friday!
The image below called Skater Sassy will be free for 24 hours on our Sassy Studio Designs Facebook group!! If you miss it - you can still purchase the image in the Sassy store at regular price. If is not in the store, which I don't think this one is in the store, than you will have to wait until it pops up again.

I printed Skater Sassy out onto X-Press It cardstock and colored her in with Copic Markers. Then I die cut her out with a Lawn Fawn rectangle (I cut the feet off because I messed up on one shoe and then accidentally got pink ink on the other shoe. So bub-bye to the feet.) I put aqua polka dot cardstock by PTI behind the rectangle die cut, the orange patterned paper is by Basic Grey and the arrow paper is by Studio G. The star stickers are by Simple Stories and the skater sticker is by Creative Imaginations.

Sewing Machine card

My card today uses Tim Holtz sewing machine stamp. I stamped it on to Strathmore watercolor cardstock with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder by Stamp N Plus. I colored it in with distress inks as my watercolors. The background paper is by Papertrey Ink and the cardstock on top of that has been dry embossed with a Darice embossing folder. The tulle and pink ribbon are both from my stash. The other ribbon is from Stampin Up. The swirl sticker is by Mrs. Grossman's and the flower sticker is by Martha Stewart.

Lawn Fawn Coffee

Today's card uses a Lawn Fawn stamp set for my image. The white and yellow die cuts are Cricut cuts but I can't figure out which cartridge it's from. I need to come up with a better system for documenting which cartridge I used on which project. Ugh! I recycled the bottom of a store bought coffee for behind the image. The white paper behind the image is by Recollections. The kraft colored cardstock is by Coredinations. Not much to this one.

It's a Girl Stroller Card

Here's a little bit of pink to brighten your day. The ribbon is by Offray and The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby. Stroller stamp is by Stampin Up and colored with Copic markers. Background paper by The Paper Studio and behind the image is a My Mind's Eye journal box. I die cut the image out with a Design Objectives die and then inked the inside with distress ink by Ranger. I die cut the same shape out of white fun foam to give it dimension. The flourish was cut out with my Cricut and the flower is from my stash.
