Black Magic Thinking of You

I tried this tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers called Black Magic. It's where you stamp an image with white pigment ink onto black cardstock and either let it dry or dry it with a heat tool. Once it's dry color in the image with colored pencils. I tried 3 different kinds of colored pencils and thought the Stampin Up watercolor pencils worked better than Crayola or Farber Castell colored pencils. This flower stamp is by SEI. I did this technique with a filled in stamp but it also works on outlined stamps.

The sentiment is a Cricut die cut and all the black cardstock is by Recollections. The background is a stamp by Hero Arts that I stamped with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed with Ranger's red embossing powder onto Ranger's watercolor paper. Then I came in with red distress ink to cover the whole piece of embossed paper. After the whole piece was red I sprayed the cardstock with water mixed with Perfect Pearls by Ranger.

**And don't forget about the birthday giveaway. It ends November 29th at noon EST.**

Manly Monday Make a Buck Wish

Today's card features a buck stamp by Deep Red Stamps and can be found at

or

I stamped him out onto Strathmore watercolor paper with black ink by Hero Arts and colored him in wit h Peerless watercolors and water with a water pen by Ranger Industries. After he dried I cut him down to this rectangle and matted him onto some patterned paper by Recollections. The background paper is by Cosmo Cricket and the vellum sentiment is by Quick Quotes. The sentiment didn't stretch the entire corner and I didn't like the edges of the vellum showing so I covered them with leaves. The leaves are punches by CM and then the little one is Marvy

Peace-Love-Joy Christmas Card Book Layout

Today I have a layout to share. I don't usually do two-page layouts but I had these three photos from this family's Christmas card. I flipped the sketch at the bottom so you can see what I was following.

I started off with white cardstock by Recollections. The patterned paper is Basic Grey Wisteria, brown cardstock by Bazzill, and the green and pearlized paper are unknown. I cut the circle outlines using the Cricut and THE George cartridge. The alphabet letters and their brown ink are from Stampin Up. The flower-like stamps are by Fiskars. I fussy cut them out so as not to take up too much room. The border punch is by EK Success and the number stickers are by American Crafts.

This is the original sketch but I flipped it....

and followed it this way.

I KEPT THE SB.COM LINKS BECAUSE THEY PROVIDE LOTS OF LAYOUTS TO CHECK OUT.

It's the Little Things

For today's card I used a card sketch from Scrapbook dot com. The brown cardstock in my card is by Coredinations and the green and grey are by Stampin Up. The patterned paper is by Kaisercraft. I punched the grey cardstock with my scallop border punch using a technique over at Splitcoast Stampers. Then I punched a smaller one that is not attached for my image. I sprayed the stand alone die cut with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and let it dry. Then with brown SU ink I stamped the SU pine cone stamp on top of it. Then I adhered all the pieces together. The sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts.

SSD FBF Pochantus

This month at Sassy Studio Designs I am on the Facebook group. Join our closed group of Sassy followers and receive a free image like the one below. This image will be available on Friday, November 13th for 24 hours only.

I printed this image onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored her in with Copic Markers and Stampin Up colored pencils. I cut her down and matted her on a burnt orange cardstock. The wooden feather is by Maya Road and the real feathers are from Meijer. I feel bad because I don't know the patterned paper or the border punch or the compass or the orange floss manufacturer. I hope you still like my card.

Utah Family

I made this LO using a sketch from A Cherry on Top. You can see it at the bottom of this post. I had to alter it a bit because my photo is bigger but hopefully you can see the resemblance.

The gold foil patterned paper is by Me and My Big Ideas and the red tree patterned paper is by Craft Smith {sold at Michael's}. The pearlized paper is from my mom's stash that I recently acquired and I used it under the red tree paper, for the tab, and for the circle outline. The circle outline and word bubble that the word family is in were cut out using my Cricut and the George cartridge. The round word bubble is from Cutting Up and the tab is by Art Philosophy. I used gold letter stickers for the date and chipboard letter stickers for the word Utah. For some reason the A in Utah isn't showing up on the photos but in real life it is there.

The word Family is a set of alphabet stamps by Hero Arts that I stamped with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder by Stamp N Plus. The red epoxy stickers came from a sticker pack by Jolee's/EK Success and the stamps of the black dots is from the same alphabet stamp as mentioned previously with Hero Arts black ink.

Sending Hedgehugs

Today I'm using some cute hedgehog stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn. I stamped these two on Ranger's watercolor paper with Hero Arts black ink. I die cut them out first {just in case I mess up on the die cutting I don't want to go threw the coloring process twice} and then colored the images in with Peerless watercolors. I die cut the heart out of red fun foam for dimension and adhered it to the stamped die cut. The dark brown cardstock is by Stampin Up and the lighter brown by Recollections. I heat embossed the sentiment with Versa Mark ink and Stampendous white embossing powder.

Manly Monday Grill Master

My card uses a grill stamp by Mark's Finest Papers. I stamped it on watercolor paper by Strathmore with Versa Color black pigment ink. Then I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used distress inks and a water pen both by Ranger to color the image in. I trimmed the image down and decided to keep this card simple since it is for a guy. There are two piece of black cardstock hanging down from the top of the card and to the left. The one paper has a white core and the other a black core which you can see because I
ripped the bottoms off. The patterned paper is by Rocky Mountain Scrapbook Company and the sentiment sticker is by Pebbles.

I didn't make it around to blogs again this past week. I'm sorry. I will make a better effort this week. Please check out the two blogs listed below. Click on the blog title to be directed to their card and a tag.

You're Special

Today's card features another dimensional flower that I made but this one is a little smaller then the others I've made. The flower was sprayed by Tattered Angels glimmer mist and then I did put Stickles along the edges. The center is a sticker by Doodlebug that I popped up with dimensional adhesive. The leaves are two separate Sizzix dies that I've had for quite a while. The cardstock for the leaves is by Provo Craft and the other cardstock is by Recollections. The patterned papers are by Pink Paislee, Basic Grey and Pebbles. I did layer the flower onto a Spellbinders die and then finished the card off with a Hero Arts stamp with their black ink.

Deep Red Stamp Friend Shaker Card

Today's card is another shaker card that I made using a Deep Red Stamp for the background. I die cut the Spellbinders label die out of purple cardstock from my stash. I stamped the Ville De Saint Denis stamp onto lavender cardstock by Recollections with grey shadow ink by Hero Arts. You can get the Ville De Saint Denis stamp at A Cherry on Top or Scrapbook.com.

I assembled the shaker in the normal way adding some beads from a friend and sequins by Craft Medley. The outside of the frame is a rhinestone embellishment from Want 2 Scrap. The vellum sentiment was by CM and the pearls at the bottom are by Eyelet Outlet.

I printed this digi out onto Cryogen cardstock and colored her in with Copic markers and colored pencils. I really like the way she turned out. The patterned paper is by Crate Paper and the yellow and brown circle cardstocks are scraps from my stash. I did cut the circle out using the Cricut and the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. The jute is by Tim Holtz and I secured it in the middle with a brown brad. The sentiment stamp is by Stampabilities that I stamped with brown Colorbox pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder by Stamp N Plus.

Newton's Nook Lamp Stamp

I just adore Newton's Nook stamps. They are so cute and fun to use. Today's card features a lamp stamp and sentiment by them. I stamped the lamp onto Ranger's distress watercolor paper because I wasn't sure where I was going with this card when I started. I ended up die cutting the image with a Spellbinders die and inking the inside with distress ink. The patterned paper is by Echo Park and the long yellow cardstock is by Bazzill. The circle punches are by EK Success and the ink for the stamp is by Colorbox. The black ink in the image is by Hero Arts. Everything else was a scrap from my stash.

My Utah Family's 2011 Christmas Card Layout

This is a Christmas card from my Aunt and her family for another layout in my Christmas card books. She actually sent two cards which worked out great since the letter was on the backside of the photo. I had to trim everything down but I made it work for this 8.5 x 11 size paper. The patterned papers are by Me and My Big Ideas, Sunborn, and Craft Smith. The cardstock is by Recollections and the number stickers are by Me and My Big Ideas. I used the Cricut to for my die cuts. The Cricut Craft Room has a freebie in there called Cricut Fonts and Basic Shapes. The circle on the top left is an uppercase O that I cut out with the outline tab. The tabs that I wrote on are from the Art Philosophy cartridge. The buttons are from my stash and the marker I used to write on the tabs is by CM.

Cuddles with Linus

Linus from the Peanuts gang is a stamp I've had forever. It is by All Night Media and I stamped him on Neenah Solar White cardstock so I could color him in with Copic markers. I looked up the image online and there was a picture of him in this exact pose so I could accurately color him in with the right colors. Once he was colored I cut him down with my trimmer and matted him onto some blue Recollections cardstock. The patterned paper is by Sunborn, the ribbon is by Stampin Up and the sentiment stamp is by Three Bugs in a Rug with black ink by Hero Arts.

Manly Monday Motorcycle

Edited April 2021 see side bar.
My card for today features 2 Deep Red Stamps. The first is the background which you can find on sale at A Cherry on Top. I inked the background stamp with Hero Arts black ink and stamped it on Recollections green cardstock. The background paper is by Basic Grey.

Then I stamped the motorcycle, which can be purchased at:

or at

With the same black ink on white cardstock. I trimmed the motorcycle panel down to fit a 4 x 5.5 card. The sentiment is Creative Memories sticker and then the gear/cog thing is a brad by Eyelet Outlet. Simple and easy.

Welcome back to Manly Monday. I have a great assortment of cards for your inspiration. Click on the blog title above the picture of their card for the masculine card post.
