Manly Monday Joe in 3rd Grade in Germany Layout

Sorry I’m late. I was working on Easter cards, which you will see the rest of this week.

I also want to make a disclaimer. I’ve been editing this post for over an hour. There may be poor wording and punctuation. I tried. Lol

Here we go!

I have an old layout of my FIL as a child in Obervac, Yugoslavia where he was born and lived until 1953 at which time he and his parents came to America. They settled down and made roots in Detroit, MI where my FIL's parents lived until his father’s death.

My MIL was born and raised in East Detroit, MI. She met and dated my FIL in high school. He was two grades ahead of her. A few years after the two were married in 1961 they moved to Grand Rapids, MI for a job opportunity for him with the IRS.

The "May 1949" stamps are by Close to my Heart

The arrow sticker pointing out my FIL is by Becky Higgins

The die- cuts are by Cricut (for the 3rd) and Quickutz (word grade)

The patterned papers are by K and I Memories, Die Cuts with a View, and Colorbok

I’m entering this layout into not a card challenge at

The Male Room

Next, is the opposite side of this layout is a pocket page with some information about the family.

If you look at the bottom right pocket, you will see the photo of Joe and Opa with words next them. Those were the words written on the back picture.

So what I did to preserve this part of the family’s story is, I scanned the  backside of the photo and then printed it on photo paper to place next to the photo. Problem is, I’m not sure how to tell people looking at the scrapbook what that is.

I’m open for suggestions. I started doing this early on with my MIL’s photos because honestly having old photos that are labeled are hard to come by.

The problem with my FIL's pictures, many of them are written in German.

You know what, Oh well. I think it's pretty cool and I hope the next generation will too. (And maybe learn German. Lol)

Here are the two layouts side by side. They sort of match each other. To me sort of is close enough.

I will now share with you my own personal quote:

"It doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be done"

Deep Red Stamps Garden Doorway Cards

The stamp is by Deep Red Stamps and is called

Each doorway is heat embossed with a different color of embossing powder.
From left to right: copper, silver, and gold onto watercolor paper
I used distress inks and a water pen to color in the images

I used distress ink on the backgrounds too
The brick embossing folder is by Darice.

I tried to add that ribbon and it turned into a pain.
I taped the ribbon down and it turned funny. Ugh!
So I glued jute down each side of the ribbon.
So dumb.
The whole ribbon thing was not necessary.
The card was great just the way it was.

The sentiment stickers are by K and Co.is by

This photo below shows the difference in the colors of each the embossing powders

Blue and green flower with die cuts Card

I’ve been a card making machine and I have been busting out some layouts.

The stamp and matching die are by Sizzix

The brads are by Making Memories and Basic Grey
The flower brads are inside a glittery flower sticker.

The die-cuts are by Spellbinders

The background paper is white cardstock that I sprayed with glimmer mist over  a Gina Marie stencil. I cut it down to the size of my card front and then inked the edges with distress ink.

Here are some examples where I used the same flower stamp

Bright colore handmade Flower cards

I should have posted these with yesterday's post but I felt like the WoW! colors of these would overshadow the softer colored flower card.

I don't have it in me to list the products. If you have a question on something please leave me a comment.

I made these ATC's in 2017 and they were published in

Swap Art

Manly Monday Snow covered Cottage stamp 2nd Generation stamping Cards

This technique always amazes me to think I get two for the price of one.

I use distress markers to color in the rubber stamp with multiple colors. Then I huffed on the stamp and stamped it onto white cardstock. Then I huffed on it again and stamped it down with a little bit more pressure.

The die-cut blue card is by Lawn Fawn and the brown card is a die I bought off eBay

The paper is dry embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folders

Saddle Up Gabe Scrapbook Layout

Well, I was thinking that since I posted horse cards in my last post, it was a good idea to follow up with this horse layout.

The number and AKA stamps are by Close to my Heart
The letter stickers are by Basic Grey
I used my Cricut to cut the horse and saddle up die-cuts
Saddle Up was recolored with distress inks.
I used a 6x6 Studio Calico paper pad and just overlapped the two pieces of brown patterned paper down the center of the layout.
The leaf patterned paper is by Provo Craft is also from a 6x6 paper pad.

I missed a horse card last time.

Yellow Butterfly tag on Red patterned paper background card

My card today could be used for any occasion.

The butterfly stamp is by Stampin Up.
I colored it in with Copic and cut it out close to the edge to include some white around the image.

The yellow tag die-cut was cut out with my Cricut. The tag is set with a large eyelet from my Mom’s stash.
The off-white ribbon is by Offray.

The patterned paper is by October Afternoon
I heavily inked it with yellow distress ink. The spaces in the patterned paper that are in between the red were off-white and I wanted the paper to match my butterfly's tag.

⦁Yellow distress ink to the rescue.
There is a bit of red ink blended into the edges.
The ribbon in the center is by...hmmm...my guess is Doodlebug.
