Ornament Christmas card for I Did It Creations Challenge

Challenge #44 here at I Did It Creations is Make the cut by using die-cuts and/or punches. We are sponsored this week be Floppy Latte and those images can be purchased at the Stitchy Bear store.

My die-cut is a little harder to spot. The white "background" is a scallop rectangle die cut. I do a lot of Christmas cards now to save myself the headache the following December. The digital image is the ornament in the middle. I colored it in with my Copic markers. The outside squares are by Hot off the Press and the stamped sentiment is by Unity. The striped paper is by DCWV, red cardstock and ink by Stampin' Up, Rhinestones by Basic Grey and white cardstock by The Paper Co.
Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the other Design Team members creations for some more inspiration. You can find a list of them right HERE on my blog just scroll down a little bit and there we all are. Of course, when you post your project for the challenge at I Did It Creations our names are listed on the right sidebar. Have a fabulous day.

Shannon's Sentiments #15

Good morning and welcome to Shannon's Sentiments challenge #15 hosted by myself. This week we I would like to see fussy cutting on your project. You don't have to use one Shannon's images but you should go check out her freebies that she has to offer and maybe use one of those.
My card today comes from the Shower Time set (FYI in this set you get 24 images for $5.00. That is a great deal. Some companies you pay $3.00 for one image.):
I cut out the dress by Shannon's Sentiments but also the tag that it is on. The tag is from Miss Cutie pie. I colored in the dress with Liquid Pearls by Ranger color White Opal and for the sash I mixed the Liquid Pearls with color Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls. A little too much perfect going on here. The tag that the sentiment is on is by Tim Holtz painted with Making Memories paint. The die cuts are by SEI and the gold paper to the right is by Creative Memories, which has been discontinued. I also used Ranger distressing ink Walnut Stain for around the edges of some elements in the card.
I hope you like my creation and will stop by the other DT blogs and check out their creations and give some love. BTW comments are always appreciated on my blog as well. Here is the link again to Shannon's Sentiments challenge blog and then Shannon's Sentiments store for some freebie action. Then we have links to the other DT members and Guest DT blogs to check out what they have done:
and GDT Becky Givans
Can't wait to see what you create for the challenge and thank you for supporting Shannon's Sentiments:)
I'm also entering this card into the SEI Lifestyle Link Party #6
Be sure to stop by SEI for your chance to win a $25.00 gift card to shopsei.com. You should go there just to check out and buy the bargains. Holy cow. I am in heaven looking at their clearance items. I could get into some trouble here. hehe. cya:)

Birthday card

We have tons of birthdays in our family this week. One last Friday and then Sunday, two on Monday, one on Wednesday and last one on Thursday. Craziness. Glad I sent their cards out last week. Here's a birthday card I made over the weekend. It will be perfect for a niece or step mom in March.
I guess I could give it to a dude but I think a chick would like it more. For this card I stamped the background of the top diecut, heat embossed it and then instead of inking it I colored it with Copic markers. Then I went back and inked the edges with a blending tool. It gives it a different look. Almost metallic looking. One thing that irritates me is that gold glitter embossing powder is hit or miss. This time was a miss and it just didn't set well when I used the heat gun on it. The closer I got to the image the paper started to turn colors. I used it on a layout earlier in the day and it worked perfectly. I loved the way that image turned out but this sentiment could have been better. Oh well, what's done is done.
A few supplies the patterned paper is by Scenic Route (so miss that company), Die cuts by Spellbinders, the background stamp is by Hero Arts, sentiment stamp by The Paper Co, brad by Making Memories, ink by Versa Mark and Ranger and both embossing powders by Stampendous.
This card qualifies for the following challenges:

Heart paper tutorial

I did this paper tutorial for I Did it Creations We do it all Wednesdays. It was posted on 2-5-11 but I just haven't had a free day to post it here until today. Enjoy.

Enhancing Paper Tutorial

I took this K & i Memories patterned paper light red on the one side and black on the other.

I was using it for Valentine's card and wanted it to be darker for a bolder look.

I started by inking the edges with Brick Red Distressing ink by Ranger using a Close to my Heart sponge. Sometimes a Ranger blending tool can give too much color and once it's there it's just that. After adding that bit of Brick red I used the same sponge and very lightly added black to the edges since it would be up against the black I thought it would blend the two pieces of paper together nicely.

Next I wanted to make it more for the theme of Valentine so I pulled out my mini letters by Stampin Up and some of them have shapes on the ends of letters, one being a heart. I randomly stamped the heart using Versamark ink on the red circle patterned paper and heat embossed it with white embossing powder by Stampendous using my Marvy embossing heat tool. **One thing to note here is that the Ranger distressing ink does not dry quickly and therefore when I sprinkled the embossing powder on the patterned paper some adhered to that ink on the sides of the red circle patterned paper. I was OK with that since it was going to have a black background but had it been different I may have waited for the Ranger ink to dry or used my heat gun to dry the ink quicker.

After embossing the heart stamps, I took the same sponge from the above step and the Brick red ink and lightly covered the entire piece of patterned paper using small circles to cover the white circles on the patterned paper making them pink. If you would like to add more black to the edges now would be a good time for that. Any black ink will work because at this point you have to wait for the Ranger ink to dry before moving onto the next step. Doing so will make it easier on you.

After the ink has dried you want to reinvent those circles' but with a more artistic flair then they had before. To do so I used my Uni Ball Signo Broad white gel pen around each one. Go around each circle as thin or as thick as you would like to make it your own. One thing to note is the gel pen doesn't go on evenly when the Ranger Distressing ink is still wet so that's why it's important to wait for the ink to dry in the previous step before using your gel pen. For a variation to your project you could use different colors if you had a variety of gel pen colors , which I don't, but you could make the circles multiple colors for a different look or multiple circles within one circle with different colors. But I just have white so here's what the paper looked like finished:

This paper came out in 2007 and I'm sure everyone has paper that old or older in their stash. With a few simple steps you could customize your old paper to a given event, holiday or project in no time at all. Below is the card I made using the "new" paper and one Robyn's Fetish sentiments for Valentine's day.

Supplies: Other patterned papers by Scenic Route (no longer in business): card base and white cardstocks by Recollections from Michaels; ink by Tim Holtz Distressing inks by Ranger and Black Memento ink pad by Tsukineko; heart stamp (retired) by Stampin Up; Black paper and red circle paper by K and i Memories; white gel pen by Uni Ball.

IDIC Blog Hop

Welcome to the I Did It Creations Blog Hop - Love is in the Air. You should have arrived here from Camilla's blog and if not go back to IDIC challenge blog to get on track. Our images today are provided by Robyn's Fetish. The first image was made for Valentine's Day and the second image is an image from her shop that wasn't made for Valentine's day but I made it look like it was. If you are looking for a letter, well you are in luck my because my special letter is colored throughout this post. (Are you getting the hint?) Now make sure you are keeping track of the letters so you can unscramble them for another chance to win!

SO BE SURE you visit each DT blog to get your letter and comment on each post along your way.
**I was thinking that a prize for one of my commenter's would be fun.
Rules to prize:
You must be a follower of mine. Don't follow if you don't like my stuff.
You must be doing the blog hop for IDIC. Please put an "A" next to your comment so I know.
You must check back on Sunday, Feb 13th (7:00 AM) for the chosen winner
You must live in the either US and Canada (last time I sent something to Russia it was $43 and she didn't get it until almost 3 months later. Ouch!)
**Also if you spot an "A" that isn't colored pink leave me a comment for that as well and I will find you a prize too. If there's more then one, keep telling me and I'll hook you up as well. Although first person to comment on the unmarked "A" is the prize receiver. Sentiments or words on the cards don't count with the pink rule & prize.
OK onto the cards:

The heart on the second card is a sponge that comes in some packaging of rhinestones. I painted it and before I used Glossy Accents to adhere it to my card I wrapped ribbon in between the eyelets and around the heart.
The ornate frame is slightly sprayed with Glimmer mist and has been stamped with stamps by Stampin Up. The ticket is by Miss Cutie Pie where you can find many freebies like this ticket.
Your next stop on the blog hop is Debbie. Each blog will have a letter. Once you have collected all of the letters you must unscramble them to make the secret phrase. All the deets are on the IDIC challenge blog. Have a good time hopping.
End of the pink A's!
The second card also goes for the following challenges:

Shannon's Sentiment Challenge

This week at Shannon's Sentiments we are sponsoring the Etsy Inspired challenge and are doing the challenge as well. This weeks Etsy inspired store is Daisy Petal Designs. Using one of Shannon's Valentine images and an item in the Etsy store this is what I came up with.
All the layers of this flower and colors stood out to me to make this card:

I guess it is a little hard to tell but the "O" in love is four layers of flowery goodness. The one after the "E" is just two layers. I think on the inside I may put a large letter "U" and then Happy Valentine's Day after that. I did use a gel pen on all the white you see on the flowers by Uni-Ball. The flower punch and ink are by Stampin Up; cardstock is by The Paper Co; patterned paper by My Minds Eye; border punch by Martha Stewart; digital image which I cut apart by Shannon's Sentiments. Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the other DT examples and enjoy your weekend by doing something cre8ive:)
I'm also entering this card in to the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp-Love is in the Air
AiFactory-Red and Pink
Paper crafting journey-Love is in the air
Flourishes-Valentine
Papertake Weekly- Anything goes + optional flowers
Paper playtime- anything goes with a digi (Love is a digi)
Moxie Fab World challenge Tuesday Trigger by  using the photo below. I was inspired by the flourishes. I think they match the flourishes in my patterned paper and the edge of the cupcake holder inspired me to use a border punch on my card. You have until tomorrow to submit your own interpretation of this photo.

February calendar layout

I make calendars for family members each year for Christmas (well before the new year if they are lucky). It's a big job but everyone really likes to have them. This is Grandma's February calendar layout. She has a slightly different one then my husbands siblings because I included pictures of her other children into her calendar. Does that make sense? Anyway, Grandma's is different so I thought I would show it here. Some supplies: red cardstock by DCWV; black circle outline by SEI; stamps and ink by Stampin Up; Love brad by Eyelet outlet; Cherish vellum by Quick Quotes. The big heart punch I received in a swap but the other punch is by Fiskars. Oh and the calendar itself I bought from Current. I'm entering this one into Simon Says Stamp and shows Love theme. Thanks for looking. Have a great weekend.

Christmas cards all Year Round

Here is another card I made for the challenge at Christmas Cards all year Round. The ornament paper is by DCWV and the paper on the bottom half is by JLJ Designs. The stamp was a friends and so I'm not sure it's company. Thanks for looking.

Christmas Cards all Year Round -Feb challenge

This months challenge at Christmas cards all year Round is to use Red and/or pink with dimension added to your card. I have a few examples to show and hope you will join us at this splendid site.

The card above I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the glitter paper by DCWV. The Santa border is paper from Best Creations and the embossed stamp below that border is by The Paper Co. The Be Merry embossed stamp image is by Imaginisce and the "& bright" is by Lawn Fawn. Rhinestones by Basic Grey, ink by Ranger and Stampin Up and embossing powder by Stampendous. One more thing, the border punch is by EK Success.
Lots of dimension going on in this card.

On this card I used a Spellbinders die for the frame and used foam adhesive to pop it up. The embossed mittens stamped image is by Imaginisce. The patterned paper is by Accord Publishing, ribbon by Stampin Up, snowflake brad by Eyelet Outlet and ink by Versamark along with Ranger Spun Sugar .
I have others to add to this challenge but need daylight to get decent photos of them. For this challenge you need to make five cards and which they can be all different or all the same, in order to be eligible for the prize at the end of the month.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Tuesday.
