Floral Friday Pink Flowers Destash Card

This card used up most of my small pink flowers. I will probably regret that in the future but there are other pink flower accents that I can make.

When I started placing the flowers on the card I didn’t know where I was going with it. I just went for it and glued them down and added Stickles to the center. That wasn’t the best decision. I should have made the pattern then glued the flowers down. I thought:

Oh well, I liked the top better than the bottom.

It was the bottom and so I was OK with it.

The top is cleaner than the bottom.

Nobody will see the bottom. Ya right!

I found the tiny plate with letter die cuts and cut out “Thirty 1993” for my Niece’s 30th birthday. I adhered the letters around a rhinestone cluster that I found in my stash.

I had to cut off the edges of the front panel to fit on my card base. It wasn’t until then that I realized…I glued the letters on upside down.
I was crushed. I tried to take the letters off. Nope. Removing the letters was destroying the flowers, which I only had 2-3 flowers left.

Looking at it now, it’s no big deal. You can hardly tell or see what I’m talking about. But...You see this flower front panel had been sitting on my desk for weeks. I looked at it all of time. I was working to figure out the best way to finish it. I couldn't get just any sentiment to look "right".

So when I found the alphabet plate I knew just what to do with it. I was excited to use it for the special occasion. But then to have so much into it to trip at the finish line...irritating.

I have to remind myself that,

It’s handmade. Not Ha11m@rk.

Thanks for looking.

Floral Friday My Cousin turns 40th this month

Let’s take note that this is a slim-line card. Some things I don’t do very often.

My cousin’s birthday is today and this is the card I made for her. I started out with a silver cardstock by Creative Memories. Sadly, they no longer sell this paper. Next is the pink gingham patterned paper is an oldie by Paper Pizzazz.
So let’s talk about these flowers. So, Stampin Up, I’m working with 3 different stamp sets. 1 stamp set has a matching die to cut it out. For the remaining 2, you stamp the image and then punch it out by using a matching punch. I’ve always had a problem getting them lined up correctly.
The pink flower with the silver flecks is by Prima. The rest of the flowers are Gemini dies.

Warning: this next description is weird and messed up. Everything in this description is not in the same sitting. I mean like years apart. But it was a happy accident that worked out beautifully.
I die cut a piece of pink paper by Sizzix.
Then I got new dies by Creative Expression.
I cut a new shape out of the old shape and then left it inside of the die for a while. Time goes by until
I finally wanted to use my new die, so I used a blending tool with distressed ink before removing the die from the paper.
Time goes by again.
I wanted to make a special card for my cousin
I placed a gray paper behind it and then found these number stickers and they worked perfectly for this card. I love the way it turned out. I hope she got it on time. Thanks for looking.

That probably made no sense to anyone but it was worth a try. After writing up this post for an hour and 15 minutes I’m calling it quits. Thanks for looking.

The flowers are from Oriental Trading Co. The date alphabets are by Lawn Fawn. The journal box and the rhinestones were picked up at Michael’s. Thanks for looking.

Floral Friday Cards with Handmade flowers in Burgundy

I sat and put some flowers together with other things, doily, tags, and other flowers. I made them into cards and haven’t posted about them. These patterned paper flowers are randomly in pairs and were bugging me. Thanks for looking.

Floral Friday Turning 100 years old

Small flowers are by Prima and the other flowers and brads are from my stash. The patterned paper is by Basic Grey (I think). The border is a sticker that I acquired throughout the years. Number stickers are by Freckled Fawn. I used a piece of 6x6 paper and to use up the whole piece of paper the white row of cardstock is the 2" piece of paper that I always have leftover from. So I will have to remember that one thing. Thanks for looking.

December Calendar Layout with Us by the parent's tree

I post a calendar layout every Wednesday. They are from all different years but I post the same month that we are in. Come back to see what January looks like

This layout is from my brother's 2019 calendar.
The background paper is by Scenic Route. The cardstock in the center has been inked. The center embellishment/border is something I cut out of a patterned paper by MME. Flowers are by Prima and Oriental Trading Co. The brad is by Making Memories. I can't think of who made the little title but as I go through my things I will find out and add it to the post.
Thanks for looking.

Floral Friday Belated Birthday wishes with a wreath

On my cards today I used chipboard from the same package by Prima. This first card uses a wreath die cut that is unknown. What I do know is that I dry embossed it by switching out my Cuttlebug plates with the paper (by Basic Grey) still in the die.
Then recently I pulled it out from a bin and thought it matched the chipboard circle in the center. I used chalk over the raised areas of the entire wreath. (or maybe distress ink-not sure).
The ribbon is from my stash. I tied the bow with the ribbon wrapped around the front panel. Then once the bow is to my liking I use a Zot or two to secure it to the front of the card. I then go to the back of the panel and cut the ribbon so I can pull it tight resulting in no sagging in the front. With the two ends of ribbon, I use Gorilla packing tape to secure them to the backside of the panel. I hope that made sense. The sentiment is by StampingScrapping (no longer in business)

On these two cards, I took a pre-made border and made it fit around the edges

Thank you for looking.

Floral Friday Yellow Shaped Clearly Besotted flower Cards

The Flower stamp set and matching dies are by Clearly Besotted

The sentiment is a die-cut by AC Moore called the Love Nicole collection

The die-cut base and the small white die-cut are unknown. The yellow is Spellbinders

The patterned paper is by Poppy Stamps. Rick Rack is from my stash

In the card below I used the same flower stamp set

The sentiment is from my stash

The die-cuts are by Sizzix (yellow) and Spellbinders (coral)

The patterned paper...I made my own background by following a "Forgotten Technique" on a YouTuber named Justine

The stencils are by The Crafter's Workshop for the large one

The smaller stencil is by Dollar tree. I love that it's a self-adhesive stencil.

These probably weren't the best two stencils to use together with the yellow and red Distress Oxide inks.

The Sisterhood of Crafters is to use a stencil. I used two.

These next couple of pictures show the yellow cards I made with the same floral Clearly Besotted stamp set.

The happy couple groomsman layout

Family album book layouts.
I used a sticker Happy Couple” by Me and My Big Ideas
The flowers are by Michael’s and Prima
The letters and swirls die-cuts are by Quickutz

The arrow was cut out using my Cricut
I added the black paper to make it stick out more.

The patterned paper is by My Mind’s Eye.

Originally, the price of the paper was 59 cents. That should say the age of this paper but I found that when I flipped the paper over it had a 6 for $1.00 sticker.

This is another layout with my FIL as a groomsman. As of now, I don't have a supply list for this one.

Prom 1959 Scrapbook Layout

I was so excited to use these prom stickers that have been in my stash for years.
Then look what I did...
Well, for the rest of the layout I used these products:

The white die- cuts behind the photo I cut out using my Cricut.
The patterned paper is by Creative Memories.

I fixed it by placing a zig zag edged chipboard border from Joann’s over the words on the stickers.
From there, I added a white strip of cardstock to the center.
On top of the cardstock are the correct words using Quickutz letters.
In the center of the words, is a Quickutz swirly die cut with a flower in the center.
It’s not perfect but I’m okay with that.

This is the second page and all of the die cuts were cut using my Cricut.

Here are the two layouts side by side as they will be in the book.

Thanks for looking.
I searched my blog for this layout and could not find it. I hate to post duplicates.
Let me know if you see it. Thank you.

Spring Colored Flower Up-Cycled card

-BEFORE YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURES, READ THIS FIRST QUESTION-

What is the first thing that stands out to you when looking at each picture of the same card?

-OKAY, ON WITH SHOW-
We have a few months until we can say, "Spring is in the air" and that's okay. The reason we live in Michigan is for the change in seasons.

In the months to come, things will get brighter and brighter which leads me to this card.
This card is soft and light, except for the orange paper, which I think that bright orange brings your attention to the flower.

What I like about this flower picture, besides the beautiful colors is, that it demonstrates where the light comes from and where you see the shadows. That's where the orange comes in. It leads your eyes to the lower-left corner of the flower but then that leads you to look at the rest of the image.

It's also a great example of how using shading can enhance the images that you color with Copics or whatever you color with.

I was going to delete one of the photos but I liked the way that it showed how even the angle in which you take your pictures can affect the way your cards are viewed and where your eyes go to first. That can be a big deal if you're trying to sell something that's on your card.

The first photo supports my theory of where the light comes from accents differently compared to the second photo where the view is straight on.
That's why I asked the question before you look at the pictures.

Well, I didn't add a sentiment to the front of the card so I could use this card for just about anything.
I can see it as a TOY (thinking of you) or sympathy card but it would fit for a get well or even a birthday card.

Babbling:
There is one pleasant thing around this time of year, we are gaining daylight every single day. We noticed that we do not have to put our outside lights on until after 6:00. Good because our electric bill was way more than last year.

Silly thing-I pay that bill and when the notice came, I was not happy. I tore off the bottom portion and placed it on hubby's counter with numbers from last year and those from this year. At the end of those facts, I put a nice note saying we have to work on turning off lights when we leave a room or are not going back downstairs. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for looking

Flower cards

Two flower cards. Nothing too special but good one to add to my stash.

I used a sentiment stamp by Lawn Fawn

The die-cut is by Spellbinders

The fussy cut flower, which it and the background paper are from a store bought card.
That’s a pretty background that you would never know was from a card. It makes me feel like I’m cheating in my card making by using parts from cards bought in a store.
Do you ever do that?

I used a sentiment stamp by Hero Arts and a flower stamp by Stampin Up

The brown paper is dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

Patterned paper by The Paper Studio

Ribbon from my stash

Check out these posts with that same flower stamp
This one is Two for one
From 2010. Wow!-it’s ugly but that was 10 years ago.
It was fun to look at all of my old posts under the search “flower”
Anyway.

The blue ink is by Stampin Up.
The sentiment is by Pebbles-stickers
The rectangle die cut is from eBay. I inked the edges with pink distress ink.
The border punch and the flower embellishment are both by Martha Stewart
The background patterned paper is by Making Memories and K and Co. for the paper of the border punch.
