Manly Monday with a giveaway

Edited May 2021. See sidebar for explanation.

I stamped the gears by Oriental Trading Co. with Hero Arts ink on Strathmore's watercolor paper, which you can find at HL or Michael's. The sentiment stamp by Hero Arts has been heat embossed in white on vellum-ink by Versa Mark, embossing powder by Stamp N Plus and vellum by The Paper Studio. But when I placed the sentiment over the word gears it was washed out. So I took a C3 Copic marker and colored the back of the vellum and it stood out beautifully.

Dog paws

New Chalk Ah Lot challenge up is Anything goes with chalk

For my card today I used this dog stamp that can be found HERE. There are a bunch of these types dog stamps for you to purchase like Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's and others. Check them out.

I colored him in with powdered chalk and acrylic paint all by Stamp N Plus. Then I cut him out using my Spellbinders dies with a matte behind him of the next size up. I love that this particular die comes in small and large so the matte around it isn't as wide. Before I took the paper out of the die I inked the inside with Ranger's Distress ink Antique Linen. The pink paper is by Echo Park and I dry embossed it using an embossing folder by Darice. The other patterned paper is by My Mind's Eye. The ribbon is by Heidi Swapp and the stickers are by Cloud 9.

Thanks so much for stopping by and looking.

Christmas Cards all year Round

There's still two more weeks to join us at Christmas Cards all year Round June challenge. The theme this month is vintage Christmas.

My card came together quite easily with the coordinating products from Bo Bunny. I did ink the patterned papers with Ranger Distress ink. The rub on sentiment is on a Spellbinders die with Creative Memories gold paper. The buttons are from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look.

"Happy Day"

My card is also being featured on the Stamp N Plus blog. The iris folding grad cap stamp can be found HERE. I can't believe how easy it is to do iris folding and who knew I would like to do it. I used Hero Arts black ink for the cap and patterned paper by Recollections for the iris folding and Karen Foster as the background. The sentiment is a SRM Sticker.

The flourish is a piece of grungeboard by Tim Holtz that I painted with Adirondack Metallics acrylic paint which is made by Ranger Industries. While the paint was still wet I sprinkled Stamp N Plus white glitter all over it. After it dried I sprayed the flourish with Krylon Fixatif in desperate hopes that the glitter would stick to the flourish and not everything else in my studio. I must say this picture is great at catching the sunlight. Look at that sparkle!

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and if you have any questions, comments or concerns please leave me a comment below. I love reading them all-the good, the bad and the ugly:)

Sympathy

I've been posting so many guy cards lately I decided today was the day for some flowers. I love this background stamp by Hero Arts for a bunch of different occasions. The rubber stamp was colored with distress markers and then spritzed with water before stamping it onto Strathmore watercolor paper. Such a pretty look with the ribbon from my stash. The sentiment stamp is by Live Life Creatively (Pink by Design) stamped in brown Colorbox ink on Creative Memories patterned paper on a Spellbinders die that has its edges inked.

Thanks for stopping by and check back tomorrow for a new card.

Happy Father's Day

With Father's Day around the corner I made a card for my father-in-law. Now the challenge is to get into the mail and to his house before Sunday.

I used: cardstock by Oriental Trading Co and Recollections, patterned paper by Basic Grey and Prima, vellum by The Paper Studio, die cuts by Spellbinders, Stamps by Hero Arts (sentiment) and Daisy Bucket Designs (compass), ink by Colorbox and Versa Mark/Tsukineko, embossing powder by Stampendous, twine by The Beadery Craft Products/Wal-Mart and the button is from my FIL's mother. I've had them for a few years and didn't want to cut the thread that held a bunch of the same buttons together. Apparently that's what they did with their buttons back then. Smart idea.

I distressed the edges of the map patterned paper mainly because my trimmer wants a new blade and I'm being a cheap-o. It fits with the card.

Tip: For the sentiment I heat embossed on vellum. Be sure to get your heat gun hot before applying the heat to the vellum. Turn on your gun and let it warm up for about 30 seconds then you will do one sweep on the vellum. This way the vellum won't warp. I didn't make this up myself. I saw it online somewhere (probably Kristina Werner or Jennifer McGuire.)

Manly Monday Crackled Leaf Card

Edited May 2021. See sidebar for explanation.

For my card I used patterned paper by DCWV, cardstock by Oriental Trading Co and Recollections, stamps by Stamp N Plus and ink by Hero Arts. The leaf is a Spellbinders die cut which I used on chipboard. I then stamped the leaf with a background stamp, inked it up with my Ranger Industries distress ink and blender followed by covering it with Crackle paint Rock Candy also by Ranger Industries.

This week's Manly Monday is stacking up to be totally awesome. I have had so many replies from bloggers who would love to have their cards showcased. Chalk Ah Lot Owl with a Tie Masculine card

My card is for this weeks Chalk Ah Lot challenge, Father's Day or masculine card with chalk. It uses THIS owl stamp and the word part of THIS stamp both by Stamp N Plus. My powdered chalk, also by Stamp N Plus, was combined with paint and used with a paint brush to "color in" the owl image. I used colors Dandy for the eyes, Teddy Bear for the body and Foggy for the nose and toes.

The patterned paper is by Basic grey, cardstock by Oriental Trading Co and Recollections. The embossing folder is by Darice and I've inked the edges of the cardstock panels with Colorbox Chalk inks. The yellow banner like label die cut is cut out using my Cricut the paper is by CGull. The tie brag is by Eyelet Outlet. I think if I added a grad cap brad to the owl it could be used as a graduation card.

There's a little more white space on my card than usual. I'm branching out and trying something new. Honestly, I didn't want to cover up the tree embossing because I think it matches the owl stamp really well.

Thanks so much for looking.

Happy Fish

My card today could be a birthday, Father's Day, just because or thinking of you card. I left the inside blank to see which occasion I'll need it for.

I found these Post-it like tags/tabs at Meijer-on sale- and have been using them like mad lately. They are by K and Co for their Smash albums. Idk much about the Smash albums but I love how many of these tags you get in each package and for 40% off I was sold on them. For this card I used them as banners coming down the left side of my card.

I placed a Spellbinders die over it with a sentiment sticker by SRM Stickers and eyelets by Doodlebug Designs. The green paper is by Scrapworks. As for the rest of my card the patterned papers are by Basic Grey and Prima with cardstock by Scenic Route and an old company no longer in business. The image cardstock is watercolor paper by Strathmore. I stamped THIS Stamp N Plus fish stamp using Hero Arts ink and colored it in with Ranger Industry distress markers.

Thanks for looking.

Grad Follow your dreams

What an exciting yet scary time for the graduating class of 2013. We have two young ladies that we hope will break the mold and become successful by following their dreams and applying hard work to make those dreams a reality. I think a dash of "it's not all about me" and a sprinkle of manners will be just the ingredients that will set these two ahead of their classmates. My husband is a high school teacher and tonight he showed me two very well written letters from another pair of graduating seniors. What a mature act of kindness and gratitude they showed to their beloved physics teacher. Best of luck to all four of these students.

My card today celebrates such accomplishments for these young adults. I would think this card would be better suited for a girl, per the husband boys hate-not just dislike but hate glitter which is what covers this frame by EK Success. I cut the inside label and its shadow from my Cricut which I inked the edges of the Kraft paper by Oriental Trading Co with ink by Ranger. The black Cardstock and card base are by Recollections. The ink I used is by Hero Arts with the grad cap stamp by Stampibilities and the sentiment I borrowed from a friend (I should remember it too-ugh). The brads for my card are by The Paper Studio, sentiment label by Spellbinders and very old gold paper by Creative Memories.

Thanks for taking a look. Half way through the week. You can do it.

Lanterns card

Today's card uses lantern stamps by American Crafts and a sentiment and the shining stamps by Lawn Fawn. I used my new distress markers by Ranger to color the images in and as ink for the shining stamps. The patterned paper is be Prima and Recollections with the tag by K and Co. I used Hero Arts black ink on Strathmore watercolor cardstock. To finish the card I put Glossy Accents by Ranger into the "glass" of lantern 3 and 4 . Oops one more thing I see is the label is attached to the card front by my new Tim Holtz attacher. (Fancy name for mini stapler).

Manly Monday DCWV paper Father’s Day card

With Father's Day jut around the corner find male cards has been a lot easier. There are a lot of Father's Day challenges out here in blog land. For this edition of Manly Monday I'm going to give you links to these challenges from the past week for you to find masculine card inspiration.

Here are a few I came across. If I missed some it was either I couldn't quickly find the challenge due to too many posts in-between the challenges with no direct link to the challenge posted anywhere or I just accidentally miss it. Some of these challenges have special requirements so please check each blogs rules.

For my manly card I'm using patterned paper by DCWV. The stack I'm using for all these cards is........
It comes with a sheet of journal blocks and sayings. I cut this saying out and adhered it to a journal box. That's the argyle pattern poking through. Behind he sentiment is a piece of ribbon to cover the seam of the two papers. Normally I wouldn't use ribbon on a guy card but rules are made to be broken in the craft world. The bottom patterned paper is dry embossed with an embossing folder by Darice. It really spices up patterned paper hen you emboss it.

Deere Dad

Chalk Ah Lot challenge #37 is Father's Day or masculine with chalk.

The challenge is sponsored by Stamp N Plus powdered chalk. These stamps, tractor and sentiment, are also by SNP can be found HERE (scroll down).

I colored in the tractor stamp using a combination of powdered chalks with paint. I used a paint brush to paint it in. I love how it turned out. The patterned paper is by Sandy Lion, kraft cardstock by Oriental Trading Co, yellow cardstock unknown and cording by Darice. I used Hero Arts black ink for the image and sentiment. It gives a very crisp look and doesn't smear with the chalk/paint mixture.

Christmas Cards all Year Round

This month at Christmas Cards all Year Round the theme is VINTAGE CHRISTMAS. This is way out of my comfort zone and I love that. Here's what I came up with.

This first one has a fun technique to give it the gold and glazed look to it. I stamped the horse driven sleigh by Stamp N Plus in black ink by Hero Arts onto Strathmore watercolor paper. I went over the image covering the paper with gold distress stain by Ranger Industries. Heat set to dry. Then the stamped image needed a little something more so I took Stardust powdered chalk also by Stamp N Plus and covered the paper with it. Finally I die cut the image out using a Spellbinders die and a black scallop die cut to go under it. The sentiment stamp and white craft ink by Stampin Up, lace is vintage, border punch by Martha Stewart, black cardstock and card base is by Recollections and patterned paper is by Karen Foster. Circle punch by EK Success.

My second card is unique with the vintage ribbon from my husbands grandmother. It was found within her sewing stuff and I snatched it up. I've had it for a few years and was saving it for the right time to use it. The time is now.

As for the other supplies; patterned paper by Making Memories, die cuts by Cricut and Spellbinders, sentiment sticker by Little Yellow Bicycle, tag by Sizzix, cardstock by Oriental Trading Co (kraft), Creative Memories (green) and Recollections ( off white), embossing folder by Stampin Up, distress ink by Ranger and button and floss from Oma's stash as well.

To my Dad

My card today is for the Stamp N Plus blog. I used their sentiment stamps. I thought the tie was fitting for upcoming Father's Day. The paper is by DCWV. I cut the tie out of the patterned paper. The background paper is edged with distress ink as well as the die cuts by Spellbinders.

Must go for now. Off to another state for adoption pick up.
