Manly Monday

Hi everyone. Sorry for the late post. I'm working with my MIL, who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, on her old magnetic photo albums. There about 40 or so books that need to be transferred into acid free sleeves with some sort of annotation as to what they are. Thanks to We R Memory Keepers we are on our way with two and a half books down. {Buy their stock-it's going to be an expensive project} I just really want to get whatever memories we can out of her before the disease progresses anymore. She took the photos and then the time to put them into books so they were of some value to her. I think it's only right to preserve them for her.

So Here we go with Week 1 of 2014 Manly Monday posts. I hope you will leave some love on these amazing crafters blogs. There is some inspiration in each piece for those pesky male cards. Enjoy.

Weren't those awesome? Love the variety.
For my card I chose to heat emboss this Wagon Wheel Stamp by Deep Red Stamp. It's a new stamp at A Cherry on Top.

I used Versa Mark ink and Stamp N Plus gold embossing powder to create my image and after I stamped and embossed the wagon wheel I die cut it out with a Spellbinders circle die. I like to add some dimension to my die cut images so while it was still in the die cut I used Antique Linen distress ink on the open area of the die cut. I love the way distress inks make things all come together.

The boot, hat and sentiment are fussy cut out of a Die Cuts with a View Boys Stack patterned paper. The both brown cardstock pieces were scraps from my pile. However, the patterned papers I know are by Tim Holtz (background) and The Paper Loft (plaid pattern).
