Calendar layouts from the birthday girl

Well, 20 years ago today I was at a dance convention in Detroit with my mother. Why would I remember such a thing? Because it was my 16th birthday and I was mad that it was on a Sunday and I couldn't go get my license so my mom took me to this convention as a way to make up for it. Like it was her fault or something. lol. So fast forward 20 years and that brings me to today. I need to ask for one thing- my friend is in the hospital and is not doing well. As a birthday "gift" to me could you please say a prayer for her to heal or fight off infection and make a full recovery or for her doctors and/or medical staff to give her the best treatment for her to survive? Or for her to open her eyes and give her husband hope that he so desperately needs. Thank you:)
OK onto scrappy stuff................
This last layout is for a calendar I am making as a Christmas gift. Well, actually I am making several calendars so these pictures may show up again later next month with a totally different layout and papers. Supplies: patterned paper by DCWV; cardstock by Sunborn, stamps by Fawn Lawn, Hero Arts, and CTMH; punches by Martha Stewart and Fiskars; Die cuts by Cricut for Provo Craft and SpellBinders; ink by Versamark, Ranger, and Stampin Up; embossing powder by Stampendous; ribbon by Michael's

This second layout is one I did on Saturday at Sisterhood of scrap for a one-hour crop. It turned out ok considering it only took an hour. We had to include ribbon and rub-ons in our layout and sketch was by Helen. Supplies: cardstock by Sunborn and Scenic Route; ribbon by Stampin Up, chipboard and brad by Colorbok; ink by Ranger and Versamark; Rubons by Imaginisce and American Crafts; tag by Westrim; flower by Prima; stamp by Recollections; embossing powder by Stampendous; patterned paper by MME.

This first layout is for the challenge at American Crafts blog-Inspired by fall. You must use at least two American Craft products in your layout. Supplies by American Crafts: patterned paper, off white paper, burgundy paper, border stamp, letter stamps, ribbon. Other supplies: Leaf stamps by Stampin Up; Ink by Ranger; Ticket die by Tim Holtz; Jute by Lehigh; Hemp by Crafters Square; Orange paper by Creative Memories; Kraft paper is unknown. Sketch used by Jean Marie at Sisterhood of Scrap. I'm also using this LO for the challenge at Lasting memories-layering/3D effects. There are lots of layers of paper and the foam squares under the word "fallin" and under each leaf give the layout a lift.

That's all for now. Happy Monday!

Here is a close up of the snowflake.

Happy Thanksgiving

I have a couple of Thanksgiving type cards to show that I better do today since starting tomorrow it will be all about Christmas.
This first card I am going to use for Crazy 4 Challenges have to have circle on your card. It's a small and only one but it's there. I hope that it qualifies.

This image is from Robyn's Fetish. The first one I colored with Copic markers. I don't really have a large collection of colors yet so I wasn't completely satisfied with the results. So I borrowed Stampin Up markers from a friend and made the second card. I liked that I had more options of colors but didn't care for the markers themselves. I'll just stick to the Copics and what colors I have.

I'm entering the 2nd card above in at One Stitch at a Time for #40 Any Season or Holiday
I thought I already posted this card but can't seem to locate it on my blog. So if it's a repeat I apologize. I did look. I have no idea where the image came from. I have a bad habit of not documenting the artist when saving the image. I used a brick wall technique which was given as a challenge at My sketch World. Pretty cool effect. I got Pick of the Day with this card.

This card was made using a sketch at My sketch World. It was a very loose interpretation of the sketch.
This card was made from scraps and left overs of a layout. I love that background stamp from Stampin Up. (Canvas-I think it's discontinued) That bottom flower is by Creative Memories and the word Gratitude is a sticker from my stash. I'm trying to use my stuff up. I wish I didn't need to sleep.
Well that's all for now. Tomorrow I will have a Christmas card or for you. I made a bunch for cards for Cards for Kids the last few days. Not sure if I have mentioned this before but I have received a bunch of donations from other scrappers such as leftover paper, die cuts, stickers, flowers, and even brads to use on cards for Cards for Kids. Well the past few days I have been putting them to good use. I think they kids will really like some of these cards. (I know I do)
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Then applied Liquid Glass to the body and antennas.

Shannon's Sentiments first DT challenge

Today is the first Design team challenge at Shannon's Sentiments Blog for the month of November. Each Saturday one of the DT members will post a challenge and you have until November 30th to post a link of your project to Mister Linky.
At the end of the month one $10 gift certificate to the Sentiments store will be given to one random winner picked from all participants each month. There will also be one free image ($3 value) given to the one player that participates the most each month.
Rules:
1) You are encouraged to use an image from Shannon's Sentiments, but it's not required. (Check out the many freebies available at the store.)
2) Each player may contribute as many entries as they'd like for each challenge.
3) Blog posts must be linked back to the challenge post with your actual blog post, not your general blog link, or gallery link.

So my challenge for you is to create a holiday card with some bling/sparkle. I made my card using the snowflakes from Shannon's Sentiments store. I put different colored Stickles on the snowflake to give it a sparkle. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
