With Sympathy card

A new sympathy card for you today. I love this Basic Grey 6x6 pad of paper for making cards. It's got a lot of variety and goes well with the Bazzill cardstock. The die cuts are by Spellbinders, stamp by Fiskars, ink for the sentiment by Memento inks and distressing ink around the edge of the card and on the die cut by Ranger Industries. The fabric brad is also by Basic Grey.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you card

I'm here to share a thank you card today with fun patterned papers by Basic Grey. I covered the 4x5.5 card base with the darker patterned paper as my base. I had left over pieces of paper from the same pad and made this middle panel by layering them on top of each other. Before I adhered it to my base I wrapped organza ribbon around it and made a bow. After assembling my card I wasn't really sure what else to do with it. It sat for a day or so until I came across this journal box by Jillibean  Soup. I felt the greens matched perfectly so I stamped my sentiment on it by Hero Arts using ink by Stampin Up. I tucked the journal box under my panel of patterned paper  and there we go. It's very clean and simple but sometimes it looks better that way.

SNP Blog Hop

Welcome!
Each month at Stamp N Plus we hold a blog hop showcasing one stamp used by all our design team. If you hop along to each blog and leave a comment you may win 2 Stamp N Plus stamps of your choice. You should have arrived here from Jackie's blog and if not start back at the Stamp N Plus Blog to hop along.

This months stamp comes with a sentiment on it but I decided to cut the words out and go with a generic sentiment using an alphabet stamp set. That way I could use this card for a birthday card or anniversary or anything where wishes play a part.
So here's my card:

I heat embossed the image with silver embossing powder and then painted it with powdered chalk (stardust) and paint. The powdered chalk gives it a nice shimmery. The patterned paper is by DCWV and the silver paper is by Creative Memories. I used an EK Success border punch and layered vintage lace on top of it. I have these rows of pearls from an old corsage that I tucked into the lace. To adhere the lace I used Mod Podge which the pearls stuck to as well. The label is by Spellbinders, brads by Making Memories and inks by Versa Mark and Memento Inks.

Here is a close up of the lace and pearls. Mod Podge is the best way I can figure out to layer the lace and have it stay adhered to the card.

So next you should be off to Julie's blog to check out what she created with this fun image.
Be sure to become a follower of the Stamp N Plus Blog and the Chalk Ah Lot blog to be eligible to win the free stamps.

Manly Monday

This weeks Manly Monday card is a little bit busier then my husband would want it but I think it has to do with the background paper (by Me and My Big Ideas). I really liked the mountains on it so I said I'm doing it. The image is a digital stamp from a company that went out of business. I colored it in with Copic markers (still learning) and the cloud is filled in with Liquid Pearls. The sentiment stamps are by American Crafts and die cut by Spellbinders.

Manly Monday

Welcome to another Manly Monday card where I feature a masculine card. Guy cards can be difficult to make. Men really like things plain and simple. It's hard for me to do that and still be happy with the results.

If you need help with guy cards you can follow my Pinterest board titled Guy Cards.
There are lots of ideas there.

Very plain and simple card today. Patterned paper by DCWV, cardstock by Pioneer, label by K and Co, brads by The paper Studio and rub on is unknown. I won it somewhere.

I'd love to see what you are creating for the guys in your life. Leave me a link in the comments. Lets inspire each other:)

Shaped card

I made this shaped card by using a Spellbinders die (label 8) and my Cuttlebug. Fold the paper in half and place the die past the edge of the crease. This card opens top to bottom. I used Basic Grey and Studio Calico patterned papers. The tag is made of old furniture samples. I heat embossed the butterfly stamp by Anna Griffin using off white embossing powder by The powder keg. The sentiment was cut out using my Cricut and Wild Card cartridge. That paper is by CGull and the stamped paper is by Recollections.
I did use my Distressing tool and ink for the inside of the die cut. Leaving the paper in the die after its been cut you can ink it up as little or as much as you want. What you get is a contrasting look between the actual edge of the die cut and the embossed area. I love the way it looks and use this technique often. If you don't have a distressing tool, get one. They are worth it-plus you can use a coupon at a big store.
Thanks for stopping by. I would love to see a shaped card you've made. Leave me a link in the comments. Let's inspire one another:)

Freedom isn't free July Calendar Layout

This layout is the calendar month of July for my mom's calendar. That's my husband and me last summer.

The banner was made using Cricut cartridge Country Life (or is it Living? not sure)
The chipboard pieces are by The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby and the peace sign sticker by EK Success.
Cardstock by Coredinations and patterned paper by My Mind's Eye. The stamps in the background are by Stampin up with ink by Close to my Heart.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you to all of the men and women in the armed forces especially our nephew Aaron who is in active duty and away from his young family for 180 days. God Bless you!

Here's a little history lesson for you. Did you know that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both dies on July 4, 1826? They did. It was exactly 50 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. I find history very interesting. My reading is usually of the historical nature.

Anyway.......

Chalk-ah-Lot cafe challenge #13

The new challenge at Chalk-Ah-Lot cafe, challenge #13, will run from today until noon EST on July 14th.

The theme SUMMER.

Remember you must use powdered chalk from Stamp N Plus and I have a small request for your blog posts. Could you please mention where you used the powdered chalk and what color you used under your creation? That would help me to determine if the project follows our 1st rule of using chalks by Stamp N Plus and would be in the running for a prize. Thank you.

Quick reminder that the owner of Stamp N Plus is offering a chalk challenge special. You would receive two free chalks for the price of shipping and handling. Check out the details HERE.

For my card today I choose the sunshine stamp from the Rain or Shine stamp set. I combined Dandy powdered chalk with paint by Stamp N Plus and used it as my ink to stamp the image. I used a paint brush to lightly spread the mixture onto the stamp. After the paint was dry I used a Spellbinders die cut to cut it out and also to distress and add color to the sun.

I cut the sentiment out using my Cricut and the cartridge Just Because Cards. I applied yellow Stickles to the word Sunshine. Patterned paper and ribbon by Stampin Up with die cuts by Spellbinders.

I used the following sketch from Pagemaps as my guide to making this card. I find using a sketch every now and then keeps me sane. I get all worried that my cards are lacking creativity.

Challenges:

Christmas cards all year Round

This month at Christmas cards all year Round our challenge is to use flowers on your Christmas card. I made this Peace on Earth card using stamps and powdered chalk by Stamp N Plus. I combined the a mixture of red chalks together with paint to paint the image in. After it was slightly dry I went over it again in areas to give it depth. Same thing with the leaves except I used two different color greens. The centers of the flowers are some beads I won. Glossy accents helped them stick to the flowers so beautifully.
The ribbon is by Offray, cardstock by Recollections, patterned paper by My Mind's Eye, in k by Memento Inks and lace is vintage.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. I hope you will join us for July's challenge, using flowers on your Christmas cards. You only need to make one to be in the running for the prize and Christmas is only 6 months away. You better get started now.
