Manly Monday Let’s Play Poker cards

The background paper is by Karen Foster. I die cut the hands from two different poker Cricut image sets. The simplest one is from an Old West image set. I had to put black and red cardstock behind the appropriate playing cards. The coin embellishment is from Me and My Big Ideas.

The other card has a more elaborate looking poker hand and it can be found in Cricut Design Space Father’s Day image set. I added a blue and read border sticker by Creative Memories only the width of the patterned paper and a second one below it spanning the entire card width. I needed a sentiment and so I found a sticker sentiment in my stash. I put it in between the two border stickers with a sticker dot in between the two words.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a great day.

Manly Monday Merry and Bright Cards

Christmas Cards with black ribbon on top of every other white stripe. My friend said it looked masculine and therefore, I decided to make it today's card (s). I put eyelets in the tags that I can hand cut out of the sentiment sheet from the same paper pad. I had cut off the bottom of this tag because it had the words to and from on it. In order to continue the look of a chalkboard, I would use a white pen around the edges.

Gabe’s Outdoor Adventures with Grandpa Layout

Here’s another layout in my nephew's scrapbook. The Left side: Patterned paper by Me and My Big Ideas and The Paper Loft. Tags are by Chatter Box. Hat and shovel stickers by Creative Memories and the word stickers are by

Patterned paper by Stampin Up and Tim Holtz. Number stamps by Close to my Heart. Ink by Hero Arts. Letter stickers by Making Memories. The pine tree embellishments are by Jolee's Boutique-EK Success. The ephemera title thing is sooo old. I love to use old stash and like it when it doesn't look like an old stash.

Tag Question-

Should I set the hole with an eyelet?
Should I put some jute or twine in the holes?
Tags are a grey area for me. I never know what to do to the top.
The stitching on them is a really nice touch. Shout out to Chatterbox if they are still around.

Thanks for looking

Manly Monday Brown handmade background paper cards

The buck stamp is by Close to My Heart and I lightly colored him in with colored pencils. The edges of the image have been inked with distress ink. The sentiment stamp is unknown As you know I’m using up some scraps from my stash and this is mostly made from cardstock but they are a few patterned papers and the companies in this background are by Me and My Big Ideas, Close to my Heart, Tim Holtz, Deja Views, K and Co, The frame around the paper is by Pebbles.

I had to flip the image of the background so that it was in the same direction as the cards.
This next card is my second brown handmade background. It is mostly made of scraps from my stash. The only patterned papers are the farthest left and those are by K and Company and Creative Memories
The lion stamp is by Close to My Heart.
I colored him in with Copic markers and colored pencils and inked the edges of the image with distress ink.
The patterned paper around the image is by Pebbles. I tore the edges of the patterned paper and also inked the edges with distress ink.

Manly Monday Wall Senior pictures of Spencer

I have a layout for Manly Monday as well as a chatty post.
This is my nephew Spencer. I replaced his 11th-grade picture on the wall with his senior pictures on this layout. Honestly, I don't like the layout of the wall. It's too busy. But I don't have time to replace it, so it is what it is.

Patterned paper-MAMBI, Close to my Heart, and Tim Holtz.
The pennant stickers were by Jolee's. They were the last ones in the package. It felt good to finish a package of stickers.
The handmade pennants use scraps of paper by Creative Memories.
The "class of" letters are Lawn Fawn.

The Spencer stamp is by...I can't find it. Do you remember when they had things with your name on them? As kids, my siblings and I always looked for our names anywhere they had things with names on them. My siblings' names were easy to find, Brian, John, and Jenny. Although, Jenny could only be found as Jennifer and my name was a challenge to find Cindy, not Cynthia.

Well, I found the names of family members on stamps. I bought all of them that I could find.

You don't see names on things anymore. With so many unique names and the way people spell "normal" names not the normal way, I can only imagine that name stamps are a thing of the past.
My niece's name would be in the group of normal names spelled wrong.
Evelyn, right? No.
Evalynn.

Anyway,
Sorry I have been MIA.
My dog had to be put to sleep. That was big and really hard. But I can say, it is getting easier. Yet there are certain things that cue a tear or two.
Next thing,
My nephew's open house was last weekend and I FINISHED the books on time!!!
I was really proud of myself and proud of the books. They turned out fabulous. Like, I'm really excited to have completed the books on time, ON TIME!
I will have a lot to post and I hope you like them.

But for today, thanks for looking.

1980 Summertime Pocket Pages Scrapbook layouts

Today’s layout starts with a disclaimer:
For now, the left side layout is plain and needs something before its deemed as finished. It does need some labeling but I’m holding off until I know what I’m going to do with the rest of the page.

I had two ideas and made those ideas into embellishments just as I had envisioned them.
Problem: the embellishments looked good alone but not on the layout.
Sometimes you have leave a layout and come back to it. Time to move on to the next pages. Things will fall into place just not yet.

The other side is my husband’s maternal grandparents 40th wedding anniversary.
The  grandkids were left at Grandma and Grandpa’s house
There’s a picture of them in the top left.
Crazy to me, how that picture was overexposed or something.
You look at that picture and the ground looks like snow. It’s not snow.
Their anniversary was at the end of June and everyone’s attire points to summer or at least warm weather.

The patterned papers are by Me and My Big Ideas
Some labeling stamps by Lawn Fawn
A few label stamps were from SNP, which is no longer in business.

Thanks for looking.

Deep Red Stamps Forever Sweet and Kind Card

The background of this card looks plain but there's more to it. I inked the Ranger watercolor paper with the blues and purple distress inks to see if I could get them to blend together as well as those I see on YouTube. It's not a terrible job but I think I need to practice my technique of blending one color to a different color. Then I sprayed water onto the stamp

I placed the inked watercolor paper on top of the wet stamp to get the water on the background stamp to pull the distress ink color away from the design so the circle background now appears white on top of the colors.
The design is more evident to the left side of the girl and I knew it wasn't the greatest but I couldn't throw it away. Then one day I pulled some things out and this card fell into place using the young lady from the:
Deep Red Stamps Formal Chicks

The rest of the card:
Stickers by Me and My Big Ideas (circle) and K and Co. for the words.
The die-cuts are also by K and Co.
The ampere stamp is by Lawn Fawn Jessie's ABC's and Hero Arts Tide Pool ink.

I used this stamp on this post:
Weekend Mini-Series

Thanks for looking

I gave it to a new friend of mine who is so sweet and kind. After I gave it to her, I felt like I needed to explain what I was trying to say which was, I hope you always stay, sweet and kind. It was also to say...I want her to know...well...whatever happens to our new group...I want her...I hope she will stay sweet and kind and be my friend.
I'm horrible with words. SMH

Deep Red Stamps Upcycled Christmas tree Card

Christmas Tree by Deep Red Stamps

The patterned paper is a recycled card,
The patterned paper is by Papertrey ink and by Me and My Big Ideas
Ink by Memento
It needs a sentiment.
You can see the recycled card I used in the second photo. It has nothing to do with Christmas but you wouldn’t know that until you saw the two side by side. Idk. The colors make it work.

Manly Monday Deep Red Stamps Big! Elephant Card

This is one of those labor of love cards. It's also a see if I could do it and make it look like I envisioned it cards.
Results-I love the way it turned out.
Start with a 5 ½ x 4 white card base (Recollections) and adhere to it white cardstock that has been embossed with a Darice embossing folder and inked with distress ink (Ranger).

Stamp African Elephant by Deep Red Stamps with Hero Arts black ink onto Strathmore watercolor cardstock. Color in with Peerless watercolors. Stamp elephant onto patterned paper (Me and My Big Ideas) to act as a mask. Cut the pieces surrounding the elephant image. Adhere those pieces around the elephant and rip the bottom edges at the grass line.
Elephant stamp is on sale at Scrapbook.com.

Before adhering the image to the card base, run vellum sentiment through a Xyron Create a Sticker (Model 150) and adhere to the left side of card. Adhere image and add letter stickers (Stickopotamus).

I know I said this above but this close up may give you a better idea of what I did.
I cut out the paper between the legs and blended it into the stamped image by roughing up the bottom of the patterned paper and inking it with Mowed Lawn distress ink.
I traced the edges of the elephant with a black pen by Creative Memories.
