Floral Friday Paper Pieced Sunflower Sympathy Card

The sunflower background die is from Scrapbooking Made Simple. I used a host of old patterned papers by Provo Craft to paper piece the petals back into the die. The center of the flower is brown flock by Inkadinkado. 

Then, sigh, I matted the flower die panel onto another piece of patterned paper from that same paper pad. Well…it was crooked and for some reason I thought that I could straighten it out making the same marginal frame around the edges using pinking shears. It didn’t. SMH! I decided to make the whole thing look uneven by trimming the edges in different areas and ways. I made it look like it was supposed to be distressed.

The card base is from Current. I inked the edges so it wouldn’t stick out and compete with the white sentiment label. The sentiment is by Stampendous and it’s cut out with a Spellbinders die.

Spring-like card.

myStamp Box Snowman

Living in Michigan we know all about the snow especially this year. School has been closed for two days but hopefully back tomorrow for my big kid. He's got a little bit of cabin fever after being Cinderella washing walls and floors all day today.

My project today is another tag that I created using myStamp Box stamps. I created the background with distress inks and Adirondack acrylic paint dubber all by Ranger. The snowman from the set Merry Mr Snowman is paper pieced together using leftover patterned paper and shiny pink cardstock. On the left side to us I stamped an Ornamental flowers stamp in silver. I embellished the tag with Liquid Pearls dots of snow, a Cricut cut out star with Provo Craft cardstock, washi tape, and a glittery present by Recollections.

Scarecrow card

Today my card features a scarecrow stamp by Stamping Scrapping. I paper pieced the scarecrows clothes and hat and colored in his face with Stamp N Plus flesh colored powdered chalk. I mixed the chalk with paint and applied the chalk with a paint brush. The die cut that the image is on is by Spellbinders. The border punch is by EK Success and I ran it through my Xyron to make it sticky and then sprinkled glitter over it. It's such a pretty affect. The best wishes stamp is by Hero Arts are well as the black ink. I stamped leaves all over the background plaid patterned paper. The leaf stamps are by Cloud 9 and the inks are by Stampin Up and Close to my heart. to finish my card I added die cuts be K and Company to the lower right edge of the image.

One Stitch at a time #123

Paper Piecing Technique for Fabulous Friday Fun 12-16-11

This week for Fabulous Friday Fun I am going to show you paper piecing with a digital image.

I selected this image from Robyn's Fetish.

I printed two images on my regular printer paper. This way I could see what one would be the best one to line up my card.

Next, I placed double stick removable tape by Scotch on the printer paper in the middle of the image. This way when I peel the card off the paper the tape will more than likely stay on the paper and not the card.

I use my ceiling light to line up the card with the image and where I want it to print on the card.  Push the card onto the paper when it's lined up where you want it.

I ran the piece of paper with the card temporarily attached to it through my printer. 

Using the same piece of tape, I placed scraps of Christmas paper to the image and ran them through my printer.

After I had all the patterned paper printed on I cut them out keeping the black line around the image the best I could.

Adhere the heart and the star to the ornaments.

Start adhering the pieces of patterned paper cut outs back on to the image you printed on the card base.

This is what the final image looked like once I adhered the patterned paper pieces. 

This technique is best done with images that are easy to cut out. 

Give paper piecing a try. It really adds dimension to your digital images.
